Don't underestimate Gwennan Edwards. You suggested above that she may be "dragged" in to cover for several other anchors, none of whom have the experience or the ability that Gwennan has.

Indeed, Gwenan has been a regular presenter on News 24 for many years now. She's one of the best. I remember her presenting with Chris Lowe every weekend for quite a few years.

The current translation for the 60th Anniversary of Hiroshima is terrible on BBC News 24 at the moment. They had some problems with the translator, then when we get it back its almost the same volume as the original audio. Maybe the BBC should listen to CNN's coverage and realise that you can actually make out all the words of the translator when you lower the source volume - rather than the current mess that the they have.

What was going on with the young male weather presenter at 8.58am today (6/8/05)? He was scrabbling around on the floor when Ifirst started watching the bulletin - he made some comment about having his mic for the next bulletin at the end. Why wasn't he in position in time, or did his mic fall off, or did he forget to the mic on?

Anna Jones' name has now disappeared from the presenter index on the News 24 website. I've also heard that she will front the 9am-12pm bulletin on Sky News along with Anna Botting and Martin Stanford when the news channel relaunches in the autumn,

Does anybody here miss Anna Jones on News 24 or will she be better suited to Sky?

It was indeed John Hammond who started the weather, realised he didn't have a pic on and then stopped - asked viewers to "talk amongst yourselves" and then got down onto the floor to pick it up and clip it to his lapel.
He carried on with the weather as normal. As you do.

Whatever happened to Ben Geogeghan (excuse the spelling) on News 24? He used to be quite good IMO. Seems to have disappeared altogether.

I last saw Ben Geoghegan reporting for BBC2's Newsnight. He used to anchor News 24 weekday mornings with Jackie Hardgrave/Joanna Gosling. IIRC, when he left that shift, Phil Hayton took over.

I think that he is now a reporter for BBC News 24. Last time I saw him, he was doing the special election coverage on N24 anchoring from the election bus every day of the campaign.

Ben Geoeghan still puts reports together for N24 but I think he should be presenting again, he is very good.

Good to see Mike Embley (BBC World) on News 24 this evening.

im VERY shocked, but we seem to have found someone that Joanna Gosling can work well with - Mike Embley, They have done a great job covering tonight's sad news in a compassionate but news-worthy fashion. I am not a fan of Joanna (like many on here) but she is very watchable tonight. Or, is Mike Embley just as good as we think?

Mike must have moved in to TVC.

He did 1600-0130 on World yesterday, tonight on News24, and is due back on World for the Space Shuttle special on Monday morning
