Umm, no. People who want a serious round up watch Newsnight at that time. You certainly don't watch Peter Dobbie for that!
Audience figures for N24/Sky/ITV News are absolutly miniscule at that time of night.
It depends on what people view as serious doesnt it.
Newnight is more analytical it wont instantly give you the news, it will give you the issues and analysis behind it, that much is obvious.
People, whom i prejudge, would be following more than the average joe the issues of todays world, i think, thou i see no evidence, in the case of the BBC some viewers who watch Newsnight may go on to watch Hard Talk.
other viewers who may view differnt issues as serious or who just think the basic news is serious enough will watch (assuming they have missed BBC at Ten, ITV 10.30 News) may watch News channels for their days news before they end their day.
I guess what I am trying to say is that IMO audience needs at that time of day arent as high, but they have the most choice so it differs a bit more.
Thou I suspect that I have not made any sense to anyone!
In that case what I can tell you is that you wait ages to see the Breaking News sting and two come almost at once, like has happend a short time back with Tim Wilcox

I would think that plenty of people would be watching after 23:00 with Peter Dobbie too for a more fully rounded look at the day's news and tomorrow's papers.
