Oh no I missed it. I liked Anna. What did he say? What was she like?
I suppose Carrie Gracie will be replacing her for the time being.
He just said that it was her last day, that she was leaving them, and that she would be missed. She just said that it had been a privilege to work with him, before moving swiftly on!

Incidentally, it was Anna Jones' last day at News 24 on Wednesday - Philip Hayton mentioned it briefly at the end of their bulletin.

Transcript of Anna leaving News 24 on Wednesday 6th July:
Phil Hayton - "Now, it's a very sad day for us here on BBC News 24 because Anna is leaving. She's going today, this is her last hour, her last minute even! Anna, you're simply superb and very nice with it. We'll miss you."
Anna Jones - "Thank you very much indeed. I'm not sure if I'm actually going to be able to say anything else but it's been a privilege working with you. Oh my goodness, it's all very tense here, let's cross over to Singapore....... "

I thought Phillipa Thomas was good on N24 anchoring the Friday 17:00 hour from King's Cross with Chris Eakin at a different location. Never seen her presenting, and the aston said "Special Correspondent" - I wonder if she was originally meant to hand back to Eakin but the line had dropped, the sound was dodgy when we did go back to him later.

Is 'special correspondent' just a nice way of saying she's a spare hand and is assigned to any story or area where they need an extra reporter?

Special Correspondent is actually quite a senior post meaning that Philippa will be sent to cover all the major stories on News 24 (such as the US Elections, the French Referendum, the Pope's Death, the Dutch Referendum, Trafalgar anniversary, etc.). As for her presenting on location, she has done so quite often. Most recently was when she presented BBC News Specials from The Hague after the Dutch rejected the European constitution.

Does anyone know what Anna is going on to do? Or have I missed it.

SO
So who has got Anna's job with Phil then?
I thought George and Sophie were very good on the six - really handled the Bombings with a sense of gravitas. sophie will be missed if she does not come back to BBC as has been rumoured.
By the way - just watched Peter Sissons on n24 this afternoon handling the worl war 2 unveiling - how painful is he , bumbling , bumbling , bumbling .
