Why does Gwenan Edwards only ever fill in on the 19.00 - 00.00 shift at weekends? Never at any other time. Does she have another BBC job somewhere?

Also when does Anna Jones go? It would make a small amount of sense if they just put Joanna Gosling back on the 9-1, which is what she used to do anyway...

Also, how do you rate Julian Worricker? I've never been too sure about him...

He Reminds me of steve dixon and the like.

Julian appears to me a very credible presenter and although predominantly a radio presenter, seems very adept on News 24 as well. A couple of times, his coverage of breaking news stories has shown him to be well-informed and have an intelligent grasp of what questions he should ask. However, it's unlikely that he would ever make a full time switch to TV, as he seems to be one of the most senior anchors on Five Live.

I like some aspects of your re-allocation of presenters 'couch_potato' but I think the reality is that the rota will be largely unchanged with Kate Silverton or Joanna Gosling simply replacing Anna Jones.

Joanna Gosling? I never even thought about her. Then again I think she's probably the most boring news presenter the BBC has and this wasn't helped with her old shift with Philip Hayton.

A good example of Julain Worricker doing a good job was when there was a second massive earthquake and there were fears of a second tsunami. As I recall, he was on with Louise and he did the majority of the interviewing and held things together well as the news trickled in.

I noticed this the other day, but as usual forgot....

News 24 seem to be using a new "coming up" screen. Much like Breakfast's with a little video shot which reduces above the tower and with the titles in one corner animating. Looked rather good, but they seem to also be using the Aston version as well, so is this just restricted to mornings usage ?

Saw Gwennan Edwards on N24 the other night. Not only is she looking very healthy and well, but she is a truly excellent presenter. Would like to see her back here on World again.

Will some explain this to me:

Sky breaks news of Prof. Dick van Velzen being found guilty of serious misconduct just before going to an ad break at about 16.23

It appears as ''more soon'' story on BBC News Online about 10 seconds later.

News 24, despite having had three opportunities to break it, say nothing of it until 16.29 before going into the weather.

Do they pride themselves on being slow, or is it just sheer ineptness?

Well, I feel we can draw two conclusions from this,

1/ Someone likes to take their time breaking the story. Checking the details, etc...
2/ There was problems and couldn't break. I mean surly all the lights at TVC must dip when that globe bounces on screen.

Oh and finally,
Anyone of the said above. And/or someone simply didn't know about, thus been slow.

Take your pick. I have a personal favourite named Marvin, But that's anoter story children..

What the heck happened at 1700. Chris Eakin did the Headlines on location, viewed from space. And then cut to Parliament Square for a few seconds before switching back to Chris after the opening titles.

Chris Eakin's been really good on News 24 this evening - I think given the lack of fatalities, it's been a bit easier to handle than many other breaking news stories, and the tone has been a little lighter.

He's had quite a bit of energy about him - wandering around all over the place, pointing out flipped over cars and boats, often just as they were being towed away. Plus a live into BBC Three News at around 7.20.

Yeah i agree , I thought he did this very well this evening ,getting the tone of the report right to suit what's happened there.

Another presenter on N24 who did well was Paul Hudson who was the guest weather expert. He did an interview with Chris and impressed me with his straight 'no nonsense ' style. It made quite a change from his comedic style usually seen on the local news.

Agreed, he did a very good job IMO. He really got into the story, and told us all the facts in a no-nonsense way, throwing in all the stories of a personal significance too, eg the car that been washed out of the garage, and the 91 year old woman whose house was devastated
