Maybe Jane Hill??

Why demote Jane? She's one of the best newsreaders on the BBC!

Looks like the tickers changed again. It now appears to be a lighter grey used and the "Sport" has been replaced with the BBC Sport logo. Looks like it used to with the orange one.

We've now got a light blue instead of grey and it appears a textured european flag for Rebate story. Looks quite good IMO.

God, that baby-blue looks awful. And the BBC SPORT logo doesn't fit in there either. Not an improvement IMO.

I was refering to the textured EU one. Wonder where this idea of blue came from? and why's it changed again?

The background to the header under the tower for BUSINESS now appears to be a light grey, almost white colour with a slight texture. The white writing is consequently very hard to make out.

Surely it would make sense to have the ticker a dark red and n ... oh my god, I've just seen the business ticker. Christ.

Anyway, wouldn't it look better if it was a dark red to match the DOG?

Blue isn't used anywhere else on the channel, and it just seems entirely out of place.

There was also a weird semi-transparent swirling globe/ribbons background for a two-way.

The channel seriously needs to look at what it's branding colour palatte is. I don't agree with Cat that they should just use more red on the ticker, that would be over doing it, but I do agree that the colours they've chosen don't work. We have bright red, dark red, black, white, orange, blue (on maps and ticker), grey and yellow (for sport).

They need to identify four to six colours that are the channels palatte and work with these more. So yes, use a different colour on the ticker from red & black, but also use it in other graphics so it makes sense.

For live reports on location they've also tinkered with the 'location' border, which goes up the frame from the Tower. It still includes a map with a location marked on it, but is now predominantly grey and black in colour. Looks a bit smarter.

Looks like the ticker is a permenant fixture now all through the day. I quite like the corporate 'BBC Sport' logo being used - the rest of it should stay the same colour except for breaking news IMO.

Edit: I've just seen the business ticker too - there's no way that will stay looking like that, you can't even read the Business text!

Good grief, have they got a kid to do the tickers today, that baby blue is awful and that grey background the business is hideous.

I was talking earlier about News 24 getting their colours sorted. Here's the sort of thing I mean. They should stick to a basic few colours, like these...

I've picked the dark & bright reds and black of the channel as at present, and added the brown & blue of the new weather graphics. These aren't to most people's taste but the following pictures show how this would work better than having a miriad of random colours...

You could even go the whole hog and introduce all the colours into the titles...

As I say, the brown wouldn't be to everyone's taste, but it does show how the channel would look 'neater'.

Excellent mock of the globe, brown and blue go well with the red swirls!
