I don't really like the way BBC News 24 uses the ticker, I think they need to adopt the World strategy here, by dividing the stories in the newsticker, by headlines, business, sport, rather then by subject, technically however BBC News 24's ticker is better then World's ticker which is not proper 3D.

I would agree with you there; to an extent. I think the News 24 ticker is certainly a development, I mean after flopping down in the evening it's quick and accessable. But in terms of pres it is slightly annoying with that "stuck-on" Blue Peter job. I would much prefer a whole screen ticker like Sky's and then maybe have the Live Bug animated, which is another thing which Bug's me, If you'll excuse the pun.
Why on earth doesn't that animate and look so, well crap? BBC World seem to have the right idea on that front.

Has the News 24 aston moved up the screen? When they didn't have the ticker running last night, it looked very high up. It may well have happened ages ago, but I've only just noticed... and I don't really like it.
It's still in the same place, it just looks higher up because we are so use to the ticker.

You're right - it's amazing how far up it makes it look now, though, it you see what I mean. I could've sworn it had moved, but comparison on Blinkx shows that it hasn't.

Anyone sad to see Anna Jones go? At least it allows Karin another rung up the ladder.

Who said that she will go? And: Where will she go? I quite like her BTW.

She's joined Sky News. See the Sky News thread.

I suspect Susanna Reid would have been favourite to take her 09.00 - 13.00 slot, as she seemed to be first choice cover presenter over the past 6 months. However, now she has gone to have her baby, we shall see who takes it. Kate Silverton, as mentioned, must have a good chance.

Must have been very bored at the BBC. I imagine presentig together with Philip Hayton is not always a pleasure as he seems unable to develop any on-screen chemistry.

So, who is to follow Anna? They were trying out some faces last week. What might be to come?
Arrow Carrie Gracie could move to the Monday-Thursday slot instead of presenting Fridays & Saturdays.
Arrow Kate Silverton could get a permanent shift
Arrow Susannah Reid might be a choice aswell. However she's pregnant at the moment, so that's very unlikely.
Arrow Karin Giannone might only have little chance to get the job as she's quite new
Arrow And of course they could use the chance and impose a brand new morning team. New male presenters could be: Simon McCoy, Tim Willcox, Julian Worricker or Peter Dobbie.

Anyone have any idea about the speed of the ticker? I remember seeing CNN's ticker about a year ago - very good, three stories for each genre, very quick, very smooth. The Sky ticker just seems too long winded, and the BBC ticker is just a botched GFX job.

rant
Actually, the whole bottom third of the N24 screen is a botched GFX job
We need parity - same font for BBC News Logo, countdown and on-screen gfx. I really like the one used for the countdown, the Swiss used for the strap etc. just looks boring
Some colour co-ordination - whoever thought black, red, orange and blue together looked good should go back to "Bratislava Tonight" or CBS-5 (West Coast) EyeWitness News.
If you're gunna sex up the countdown music, sex up the title music too. Get rid of the flying words - too Sky early nineties era - and the bizarre arrangement of ribbons.
As for on-screen gfx - abolish the tower and introduce a Sky-News-esque bottom-left on the screen DOG. Shrink the news story strap to the same height as the text line.

Karin may not be her direct replacement, but might replace whoever replaces her in the slot that they will vacate.

Where is deborah mackenzie? Martine Croxall seems to have taken her slot full time.

Saw Martine Croxall overnight last night - I love the way she introduces herself in a Big Mo Slater type accent, straight out of Walford.
