I think alistair yates has been on five nights in a row. When was the last time this happened?

Great to see Peter Sissons and Moira Stuart re-united!! In fact, just plain great to see Moira in the N24 studio.

Does she participate a bit more in this programme, or merely just reads the news for a few seconds again?

By the way, thanks for the caps above.

Did anyone see the TOTH just now (5pm)? What happened to the headline bed? It just stopped midway through the headlines.

did anyone see the 1am TOTH. after the first headline it froze with a still image of tony blair and george bush. then the sound stoped and they cut to the globe exploding which was stationary for 3 to 5 seconds.

The headline bed seems to be fading an awful lot recently. I can count at least 4 occasions where its lasted less than 10 secs before total silence. Well with the presenter talking, Oh course.

And Marvin he seems to be very quiet at the minute.

PS.

It just flows, like the Severn. Good one though, but I doesn't seem that wacky given recent events.

A couple of weeks ago, someone asked about Paul Welsh and where he was reporting now. I've found his biography on the BBC website:

Has the News 24 aston moved up the screen? When they didn't have the ticker running last night, it looked very high up. It may well have happened ages ago, but I've only just noticed... and I don't really like it.

It's still in the same place, it just looks higher up because we are so use to the ticker.

The ticker is used far too much now. It should be restricted to Breaking News stories and headline summaries only IMO.

It was thrust into constant use during the elections, where the content covered strategies of the different parties - this was quite useful and effective, however it has lingered on and serves only to clutter the screen with more junk.

It would be of use if used sparingly

I don't really like the way BBC News 24 uses the ticker, I think they need to adopt the World strategy here, by dividing the stories in the newsticker, by headlines, business, sport, rather then by subject, technically however BBC News 24's ticker is better then World's ticker which is not proper 3D.
