No matter how fast the globes spinning the titles are piss poor. I mean come on, how many exploding globes have you seen, oh and by the marvals of technology we can have words flying around.
BBC Presentation can do so much better than it is.
BBC World's fast/slow idents are along the lines in could improve on, or even just using the generic titles with BBC News going around it.
But as a whole N24 seems to really be on the up, I was impressed with the interviews we've had this morning.
The Banner now seems to have been reset to the Breaking News colour for ever story and Headline/Brief reminders astons.

Why do the titles have to relate to anything that actually happens. How boring that would be! You could equally asks how often do we see the globe disintegrating into 3D cubes, how often we see giant fish fingers flying up from London?

I think they're cool - really get your attention with the BANG, tell you instantly what the headline is and it just looks good.

They do seem to be having troubles with getting the strap to go dark red though! I was really hoping that we'd get a red on white or red on black Breaking News strap. Ah well.

The BANG isn't the globe exploding; that'd be in slightly bad taste if the headline was Big Bomb Goes Bang or something less remedial. Isn't it supposed to tally with the whole *Breaking* news metaphor?

The globe doesn't look too bad in Lee's capture, but ... it's still not as nice as it could be!! Wink

It will be interesting to see if the new and improved TOG is used for BBC World joint bulletins tonight, me thinks that they won't otherwise BBC World will have to see the crazy globe in action too.

BTW as regards to the globe issue, this will further add to the inconsistancy as the pre-rendered titles will have the usual globe spinning at it's usual rate while the ones with TOG will have the globe animated at a much faster rate.

Just grow up Harshy.....

Viewers of World will not revolt against the increase in globe speed from 15 to 27 revolutions per minute.....they will not storm Television centre in disgust.

In fact the Gods honest truth is that 99% won't notice and the other 1% simply won't care.

From a presentational point of view- this update is all about creating a more stable, smooth operating system. About a presentational change to the ticker. It's going to be rolled out to World because it's more stable.....World will not be "protected" from the 'evil' fast globe.

Sometimes your language on this forum really makes me cringe with disbelief.

I know part of it is that you love to boast about something that other people can't watch (i.e. BBC World)- frankly why anyone with access to News 24 would want to see a BBC news channel that isn't actually a news channel is beyond me.

But part of it is also really quite disturbing.

Dunedin, what are you on about? I think it's you that has the problem, not Harshy. I can't see anything wrong with his comments or language.

"Luckily BBC World have a bit more sense and are still using the old orange globe revolving at the correct speed."

"me thinks that they won't otherwise BBC World will have to see the crazy globe in action too. "

"But I was really shocked when I saw the titles, the globe has gone out of control, it's far too fast, they have to slow that down surely, will look at BBC World tomorrow."

And many more examples of fawning over BBC World as if it were a child. It's just embarassing at times. Surely you must see this?

Whoa there! You've been a member of this forum for *ages* and you're only now taking people to task over doing their best to brighten up their posts in an environment devoid of non-verbal expression?

The only problem here seems to be your own fawning over, and please pick one or both of the following, the forum or the English language. Both of those can look after themselves I'm sure, they don't need yet another self-appointed guardian. There are plenty to go around!

That is all. Continue.

I can't believe that the speed of a computer-generated globe is also generating computer flame wars! hahahaha!

This is a news presentation forum. What else should we talk about? If you are not interested just don't write.

Yes, and well done to the Beeb for that, of course I don't like the speed of the globe, that's my humble opinion, if you don't like my opinion, then that's fine, that's the whole point of a bulletin board to share views.

You really are so stupid, anyone with a broadband connection can watch World now, either via pay or alternative means, so why the fook would I have to boast about BBC World, it's not my fookin fault I left my old dish at 19.2E Mad

The reasons why I and my family watch BBC World is because they have a good in-depth analysis programme at 14.30GMT called Asia Today, which is incredibly useful to watch.

Steady on chaps. Calm down.

I also watch BBC World and think it's an excellent broadcast outlet, if a little disjointed after the recent opt-out changes.

However, I do manage to see N24 overnights, usually presented by Alistair Yates or Deborah Mack, and it is equally excellent at these points. Can't say that I can legitimately comment about the other parts of the day as far as N24 is concerned.

Despite the apparent "pettiness" (sp?) of the preceding posts, it is in fact nice to see that this forum is visited by some people who are incredibly passionate about TV News, which is the reason why we all visit. Whatever floats your boat, as they say............

Let them carry on, so long as no one is harmed.

I absolutely agree BBC WORLD, it's just what really gets on my tits is the way Dundedin says why would anyone watch BBC World when they have access to News 24, he should realise that BBC World is suited to some viewers, particularly people who originate from the sub contenient.
