They went to the "BBC Interactive Studio" about 40 minutes ago for a woman to read out the "Have Your Say" texts/emails on the Man U story.

Have they ever done this before?

The studio looked like it had far too many flatscreen monitors in to actually be of any use to anyone.

I have seen it before, IIRC it was just last Friday with someone, who I think used to be on Reporting Scotland - could be wrong though. They went to the interactive studio for literally seconds before being cut off almost immediately for news on the new cabinet.

Interesting presenter schedule this evening, Tim Willcox and Karin Giannone on the 19.00 - 23.00 shift, and Tim Willcox staying on and still pesenting on his own for 23.00 - 01.00 shift that he usually does on Fridays

The interactive studio was also used to read viewers' messages when the Pope died (I saw it overnight on BBC World).

The 'interactive studio' is nothing more than the News Online camera position. Those flat screens you see in the backround are part of the 'News Interactive Hub', where the 6 news loops are played out from.

There did used to be a real 'interactive studio', which was called N5, and was where Talking Point used to come from before it moved to N6 at the start of this year. N5 is now closed, and if you're interested, in a previous life it was where the long since closed BBC World Service TV Arabic channel came from. Infact the current News Online/Ceefax newsroom is the old studio for BBC World, before they moved down to N9 after News 24 moved to N8.,

Just saw the main package on Man Utd. at the TOTH (2pm)- when they show the crowd of people marching outside Old Trafford, you can clearly see one chav holding a placard saying "FU*K OFF GLAZIER" (without the asterix)...you would have thought one of the editors would have picked up on this?

Well no not really. The news directors are busy enough without scouring through all the material before hand. Its just one of those things. Its not like its on screen for long anyway.

What on Earth are News 24 doing leading on the story that Kylie Minogue has breast cancer? As devastating as it no doubt is for her, it's hardly a story of resounding importance, is it?

Certainly the director doesn't have the opportunity to preview material before it's put to air, but it's the responsibility of the producer of the item to ensure that no inappropriate material is included. The picture editor and reporter should also provide extra pairs of eyes. No excuse for this really apart from laziness. This is one of the drawbacks of non-linear editing. You just mark the in and out points without having to watch the shot through.

Well she is an international superstar, so of course it's right for news organisations to cover the story, I hope she makes a speedy recovery.

Reminds me of the time of Jamie Oliver's press conference a couple of months ago at 3pm, I think it was three sh*ts and a f*ck.

I certainly agree that it should be covered, but to have it as the top story seems excessive.

They did another walkabout in the newsroom behind the studio earlier today. Normally it's Jon and Louise who do it, taking it in turns each day at about 16:20, but today Liz Pike went in there at about 13:50 and had a chat with the correspondents about the Queen's Speech
