Am I going totally and utterly insane, or did News 24 just use a remarkably similar piece of music for their sports round-up to the one that Sky News use, or at least used a year or so ago?

It was practically identical. Is it library music, or something?

I just heard them using an instrumental part of F.E.A.R. by Ian Brown, which I'm pretty sure was used in a Sky trailer or something last year.

So no, you're not going mad.

Note - I'm not going to try and quote the whole thing !!

I think that the list is basically correct, and ties in with a similar list I've been making over the last couple of weeks. My only additions are that Stephen Cole is another relief presenter, usually used at the weekends, and also, I think that the Friday 2300-0100 shift does not have a fixed presenter (recently it has been presented by Alastair Yates, Julian Worricker, Tim Willcox and Stephen Cole)

Also, it's spelt Karin Giannone. Very Happy

The Friday 23.00 shift does seem to be Tim Willcox more often than not, however over the last month he has been on from 7.30am on the News 24 Breakfast opt-out to cover the various politcal press conferences, hence them needing someone else to fill it.

Stephen Cole is good, they should use him more often, although I suppose his role as 'Mr Click' takes up most of his time. He was on over Christmas though.

Apologies for the spelling Smile

well as of tonite, looks like you can add Martine Croxall to that... she hasn't been seen on N24 for about 18 months, certainly not since the revamp.

Welcome back Martine. Hope we see more of you!!

The return of martine croxall after a long break , she looks much the same as when she was last on. She seems very relaxed , more so than before , perhaps she's had plenty of rehearsals.

Another presenter to add to your list is Rachel Schofield. She is by no means a regular relief presenter, but IIRC she presented the evening shift with Chris Eakin about 3-4 weeks ago.

Have to say the current schedule is better than it was a while ago. Why don't they give Chirs & Jo just the weekends and let some of the stand-ins do the Friday 7 - 11 slot (ie including Simon McCoy)?

On a completly unrelated note...

News 24 seem to be using the ticker alot more recently. I've just seen the reshuffle story with the Headlines/Business then Sport running along the bottom.

Is this becoming a feature or just been used with all the empathsis on Blairs' reshuffle?

Seems to vary between directors, but you were almost there really; this ticker usage most often features where this a heavy emphasis on one story. They usually give a one or two sentence run through of each story. Sometimes main stories all appear under the "HEADLINES" banner; on other occasions they feature each headline with its own masthead, e.g. "MG ROVER" and then one or two sentences on the latest news relevant to that story.

I like the ticker when there is *lots* of information on it like when the bus was in Gateshead and it started talking about the Jarrow Crusade. It can distract you from the more boring stories whilst not being repetative.
