No, no that globe is spinning far too fast - it doesn't fit the title theme at all. Unless the music is sped up it is just wrong wrong wrong!!

I really don't understand why many of you have an issue with this. I suggest you all cast your minds back to the 1993-1999 titles!!

I don't mind fast globes, it spins quite fast with The World, but the tune is fast paced as well, so therefore it works very well, as to the example you are referring to again it worked because the music had a faster rhythm to it, but clearly this does not work with the News 24 titles as the tune builds up to the endpoint, and then it slowly fades to the aerial shot.

Luckily BBC World have a bit more sense and are still using the old orange globe revolving at the correct speed.

Anyone have a capture of the high-speeding globe titles...

Download here.

If this is it, then I don't think it looks all that bad, it makes the titles look a little more fast-paced.

i agree with you, although i think with the slow music, it sort of says the globe is saying "wee im spinning out of control here, and the music is so slow!"

Interesting that the globe started on America and not the Middle East for the Iraqi headline, is this a new bug or human error?

With the new spining globe I doubt most people would notice from where the spinning started - so maybe they won't bother with doing that any more.

Yeah, yeah I've aboslutely nothing against the sped-up titles, my point is that it doesn't tally with the music. The fast globe is nice!!

EDIT: Fantastic ... "absolutely" is censored when you spell it wrong!! God bless the swear filter.

I'm gonna leave it like that, I like it.

Aww! We can only pray that no threads about Medieval musical instruments crop up!

Liked the way they used an animating Iraqi flag on the screens. Most effective, should use more animations for these.

Wow!! that is a fast spinning globe. I just watched it then on BBC World, they also used the News 24 Titles, showing 24. not just BBC NEWs like normal during overnight.

If they are going to have a faster spining globe then they need to add a faster beating tempo or something like that. I like it anyway. Smile

Sorry but I think the globe spin works with the music at both speeds. With the new one I think you get one 'day' per pip, which works OK. I agree that it's not as noticable where the spin starts from now.
