Has it not occured to anyone the main reason they did this newsroom thing was because they wanted to talk to three correspondents at the same time, and they won't all fit round the studio desk?

They may well decide to continue with it anyway as a result (I've not been watching today) but I'm not sure its all *that* indicative..

There is space for four around the desk- you just drop one presenter for that segment. And I'm pretty sure they've had 3 guests on the barstools using the right end of the set during their Iraq Briefings in the past.

They were using that very method earlier today.

I actually thought the 'rough' camerawork was shoddy- and you hardly get to see any of the set because it has to be done on such a tightshot.

The more I see this, the more I think they should just bring those interviewees into the studio where the ceiling cam etc. provide much more interesting shots.

Otherwise invest in a ceiling cam running in the newsroom, thereby allowing wider steadier shots.

It must be absolutely awful working in that newsroom- looks good as a studio backdrop but when you actually see the thing close up....being surrounded by white fluorescent panels all day really can't be good for you.

The lights look much brighter on camera than they are in reality.

Spectacularly dull observation reflecting what a dull day I'm having: earlier today, the headline strand going around the globe on the title sequence read "BBC News" (sic), rather than the more common "BBC NEWS" or "NEWS 24" to which the headline strand usually defaults when nothing else is entered.

Big woop!

Does anyone think that BBC News 24 should have used special Election 2005 astons to match the backing coloured wheel graphic, I think it would looked more effective, is it possible to have animated background's on TOG astons, I know the TOG blocks and Astons move but never the background if you know what I mean, because I've always noticed they revert to Big Ted to do this.

At the very least the main HEADLINE area of the TOG aston should be dark grey rather than the standard red. Ideally, it could change to yellow, bright red or blue according to whichever press conference or speech is being covered at the time. To distinguish between the Labour aston and the breaking news aston (which would be very similar in colour, as can be seen by the Labour masthead on the ticker - it's almost identical to the breaking news ticker masthead), the breaking news aston could have a white background with red text.

I really don't think an animated background to the full length of the supers would be appreciated. The animation on the Breakfast graphics looks good, but that's mainly because it's so unintrusive - off to the edge of the screen, and only on screen briefly. As many have complained about Sky News' current election graphics, constant animation on screen gets annoying after a while, and I can imagine it being very irritating to have an animated background to the main graphics that would be on screen for a great deal of the time.

What's going on with the summary pod (left hand area)? It's not been used for days now. Is it being done up for something or is this anything to do with them using the newsroom?

As I agree with many of the points you've raised BBC LDN, I think what I meant and should have made more clear, is the animation to be really slow and subtle, not as fast as Sky's which I too find very distracting, but I do think that News 24 should have at least made an effort with the Election astons rather then use the standard red scheme
