Julian's been presenting on News 24 for about a year now. He also presented The News Show on BBC Three when it launched ... and he's no stranger to TV having presented Midlands Today many years ago. A true professional broadcaster and a nice guy.

Think I remember him presenting on the old News 24 a few times too. Agree he is really good though - think he works particuarly well with Kate Silverton.

Ah, good old Sissons........can you imagine Joanna Lumley (or her alter ego Patsy Stone) presenting News 24?????

Didn't know that Chris Lowe is still around.

I was wondering if someone could confirm/deny the following. Some members over in the Weather thread have been suggesting new colour scheme for BBC News, I don't read much into this but is there the off chance this has some groundings?

Very likely to be true. However it'll be in 2008 when all of BBC News moves to Broadcasting House Razz

i do wish it wasn't in all caps though, i find it much harder to read even with the better scrolling

They also insist on listing URIs on the ticker in ALL CAPS which, if typed in ALL CAPS, don't actually work.

Chris Lowe has been doing BBC News 24 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings for quite a few years now. He's generally on from 19.00, and ends at either 23.00 or 00.00 depending on which evening it is.

I don't think at all that he's rubbish.
Just watch this video:

Classic Peter Sissons - he just announced that Chris Lowe and Joanna Lumley were coming up next Shocked Laughing

No such problems this evening - a look of steely determination on Sissons' face before announcing that Chris Lowe and Joanna GOSLING would be coming up next Very Happy Very Happy

Yes, there was a definate measured gap between 'Joanna' and 'Gosling' (eyebrows raised in concentration)

Interesting set up earlier on this morning, good to see the main man Tim Willcox presenting as usual. Dateline London was broadcast live from the News24 studio , meaning at the TOTH for both 11am and 12 midday Tim read the headlines from the left hand area of the set standing up.

Only other notable event today was the rolling out of the tractor cam at various intervals, heralded by much creaking and whirring from the studio roof

Was this morning's Breakfast (with Dermot and Natasha) simulcast on N24 because when I switched on at around 08:40, Phil Hayton was presenting on his own?
