I did not say I had this as a personal press release. I work for a newspaper and one of our reporters had heard rumours ( for some time) about Longbridges future, I was not personally involved but an email was sent to Longbridge AND suppliers. A generic press release came back from Rover but there suppliers were a little more fourthcoming.....
I resent been told "Rubbish" please consider all the fact before you start replying so abusivly.

Going back to n24's use of presenters on location for what they consider to be major news stories, i have compiled a list which is by no means complete. It definitely shows Jon Sopel to be the main presenter but also lists Peter Dobbie, Simon McCoy and Chris Eakin as important anchors. All additions are welcome:
War in Iraq - Jon Sopel & Peter Dobbie, Kuwait City (March-April 2003)
Madrid train bombings - Jon Sopel, Madrid (March 2004)
Expansion of the EU - Jon Sopel, Dublin (May 2004)
Factory explosion - Simon McCoy & Chris Eakin??, Glasgow (May 2004)
US Election - Jon Sopel, Washington (October-November 2004)
Asian Tsunami - Jon Sopel & Peter Dobbie, Galle (January 2005)
Charles/Camilla engagement announced - Simon McCoy & Jane Hill (Feb 2005)
Ellen MacArthur returns - Chris Eakin, Falmouth (February 2005)
Pope's illness and death - Jon Sopel, Rome (March & April 2005)
I have listed only News 24 presenters (not BBC World) and can remember Sopel presenting in Stockholm and Brussels but can't remember when. Also I cannot remember who presented from Normandy on D-Day 60th anniversary apart from Huw Edwards.

I quite like this trend which is appearing on News 24 with Sopel at the minute. Every week he seems to be out and about, last week Popes Death from Rome, week before Politics Debate and so on. I beleive it works quite well having one (Lousie) in the studio and Jon at large.

This is BBC One. We apologise but were having to show Ground Farce, Changing Something and Car Bootie for the next few days as some mad women is holding us hostage.....wait a minute its Lorraine Heggessey.....

Here in BBC World land it is Lyse Doucet who normally goes out on the road to cover big events, but we didn't have any BBC World anchors in Rome thus far.
I assume the funeral will be a shared affair with N24 too.

So in fact it wasn't a press release, it was an answer to a question. There's a very big difference.

I remember seeing her during the Asian Tsunami coverage pushing some poor technician out of shot during a two-way. I think she was in Tamil-Nadu, India.
BBC News works quite well having outside broadcasts. I wish they would do more with this in the morning, in a way like Sky News Today.

Yes, on refelction it wasn't a press release and for this I apologises yet again. I was just highlighting how this story was batting around for some time before N24 picked it up.
I hope we can now turn our attentions back to the thread and not definitions.

I've just been looking back through the wires, and found that the News 24 flash was based on a piece of BBC Material, filed at 1215. PA didn't use the line about production being suspended until 1255.
This suggests to me that the BBC staff who've been camped out at Rover for the past couple of days had heard similar rumours, and asked similar questions.
