presumably at the TOTH they dip the studio sound to make tractor cam quieter. wait for a midshow use of it and then you can hear it

I must say that I've never heard Cam 8 making any noise. All I can hear is the hold of the titles.

if you listen when they use it at other times it goes "grrrrr" and there are several metalic clunk noises. you don't often hear it at the TOTH.

Are you sure thats not the printer under the desk you can hear? It does make a bit of a racket.

when bbc two handed over to news 24 the other night mid-way through the paper review and the over head camera was very loud, the noise stopped when the camera came to a stand-still.

No you can definatly hear the thing. Every time its used there this almighty "GRRR" in the background. You can particulary hear it when its been rewound after the TOTH.

It's definately the camera making the noise. If you listen to News 24 through a surround sound speaker system, it's very sensitive and you can hear every little sound.

I heard Philip Hayton whisper "my coffee has gone cold" the other day! Wink

Yeah in some they hold the titles for a while but I have heard on some videos of the beginning of News 24 on my pc and when the opening titles are finished and they go to the tractor can and the hold of the titles is actually been turned up so it makes it louder than that actual titles.

I'm sure some people actually tune into the channel BECAUSE of the weather forecast - News 24 is certainly the only channel where you can get a full, detailed, well-presented and up-to-date weather forecast every half hour.

Just me that prefers the Sky forecast then? I always find it far more accurate than the BBC forecast, which relies on a weather cloud to forecast the weather for virtually half of Scotland.

You've got to be kidding? The BBC Weather forecasts are the only ones in the world to be produced and presented by qualified meteorologists - these are people with physics/chemistry/meteorology degrees (compare to Lara Logan, Five weather, BTech in Chav me-thinks...). Having a top-of-the-hour is essential; you can tune in for three minutes and get all the news headlines, plus weather for the coming week. Simple.

Your statement of "using a cloud to forecast the weather for half of Scotland" holds no water (haha, see what I did there!) - the weather for Scotland is caused by that cloud! And, oddly enough, since the BBC is a Met Office facility, it's highly likely that Sky use data which has been prepared by BBC meteorologists....

I've worded it all wrong, yes I know. but the Times when you can hear it are when they stop the music sooner.

Yes they used to this effect on World, but now it's used on News 24, I like it when they boot up the last part of the theme tune.
