why thank god? was it going to threaten your life? no. you people are so obsessed with the graphics and presentation, and not the news content, which is what you should be more concerned about.

Edward, if it's news content you wish to discuss, create a thread for that purpose, and for a particular story you wish to discuss.

So why are you here? only few threads are related to a news story..

Was it the globe in the titles spinning faster or was it the globe in the TOG spinning faster.

The old kit is back in operation today. Looks as if yesterday was live proving of the new software/hardware. Performed quite well I thought. Small number of hitches:

- issues with the subject title on the ticker - not reflecting ticker subject matter - particularly during Business updates, where 'SHARES', 'MARKETS' and 'BUSINESS' titles were appearing out of sync with the ticker data.

- background colour scheme on the headline seemed to be incorrect at various points, often showing the bright red 'Breaking News' at inappropriate times

Couple of small errors on Business Today with the Markets info appearing incorrectly - '<NASDAQ>' appeared for example instead of the appropriate NASDAQ closing value. This may have been an operational issue rather than a software glitch though.

As for the rather accelerated rate of the spinning globe on the TOTH titles - I rather liked that. Don't think that's really a problem at all.

Does anyone have any video captures of this? I too liked it.

I'm sorry, but I still don't see the need to use the words Thank God. I understand discussing presentation and graphics, but surely it isn't that big a deal the tower has changed, no?

And, to add to thread, it looked much better than before.

Well by my calculatations News 24's globe was spinning at 17,280 revolutions a day, compared with just one in real life....
That said, I did actually quite like the update, which lasted all of 18hours. The globe spinning faster suggested to me some more alterations in the future, possibly losing the big bang start, speed up and downs and maybe an upclose globe, again spinning from the country with the lead story, well that seems an easier way of updating to me, there again anything would be better that the current Big Bang Theory we have at the mo.
Wonder if the ticker has changed by to god awful orange/blue combo...
Lets just hope the new system reloaded soon....election time maybe....
wild speculation of course.
Anyway A few months ago the new head of News 24 was on Newswatch talking about the format, more stories etc, just wondering if this had been implemented yet or is it still on the shelf.

Generally the new graphics were good, but I was glad to see the old clock back this morning. The new one is too large and isn't centred properly. The old one also seemed to blend in a bit better with the tower.
