What a waste of money!
How can that be a waste of money? They formed part of the News 24 set during the period 1997-1999. One could argue that they have saved money by not having them removed since!
Isn't that the present BBC News 24 studio beyond the black glass?
If that's the case then the present BBC News 24 has turned 360 degrees since 1998

Not quite. Beyond the glass is outside the building. News 24 is to the left of that picture.

How did that bit form part of the News 24 set? If the set's always been in the same place, that wouldn't have been seen. Even if it was, sets don't usually incorporate logo-etched plate glass balconies! Especially as it was a logo that was seen by so few people compared to the rest of BBC News.

The picture taken is off to the right of BBC News 24. i think the shot we see there is close to the BBC Sport area. News 24 looked over the balcony when it first moved into the News Centre from its original set up. The frosted glass was part of the backdrop.

This set was used for just over a year during 1998-1999.
The picture above, the windows which are black (cause its night time) is the same windows you see in this picture.
www.tvradiobits.co.uk have some better pictures if you are unsure.

Believe what you like, but the second N24 set incorporated the glass balcony. The original N24 set was, of course, in the now BBC World newsroom. It was the second set, the first in the current N24 area, which used the logo-etched glass. Have a look at the foot of this page: http://www.tvradiobits.co.uk/idents/news24a.htm

Although I haven't passed it recently - The solicitors who occupy the old Westward / TSW building in Derry's Cross Plymouth. Still have the etched Westward Ship Symbols on the rear windows of the building many many years after they were first installed when the building was constructed in the 1960's.
