Even if it was worth a mention, Jonathan announced it at the end of last weeks show making their breaking news 6 days old.

Absolutely loved the introduction just given by Joanna Gosling for the Lembit/Cheeky story, she just kept herself from laughing. She almost lost it at the end of the story too.

Can't wait for Storyfix this week coverage of the story.

Can you enlighten those of us who didn't catch it?

Yep. The tree has been the subject of a 12 month rebrand project, involving an external agency. The BBC wanted to know "What do people want from their Christmas tree? What kind of tree should it be? What colour should we make the base layer? How much branding should feature on the tree? Martin Santa-Nairn came up with the radical design concept, mixing as it does, traditional and retro, but with a modern twist (notice the some baubles are RED to tie in nicely with the brand). Deputy DG Mark 'St. Nick' Byford says " The new tree is fresher, edgier and more exciting than the old stuff we turn out year after year and we hope people appreciate the subtle interplay of light and glass with wood and plastic" The BBC were unable to comment on suggestions that the tree may run out of water, due to the reduced licence fee settlement, save to say..."We have put systems in place to ensure the tree (or BBC Tree as it has been re-imagineered) will be fully self sustaining for at least 12 days"

I think that's the most creative piece of work I've seen from Col Mustard in a long time...

the red and silver give a nice festive feel to something which otherwise would be just plastic and artificial...
