The bottom bit on yours looks looks what i saw...the clock was in the very far bottom of the screen.
As you can see i am no design expert but it was something like this...

The large red area had swirls moving around in the background behind the word Headline. The bright red bit was not that bright but i couldnt find a better red

I hate the ticker, and how high the graphics go as it is - and stripping right across the screen permanently at that height? Eugh.
Far better if they did a stripe at the bottom like bbcw05's mock, and just used unaltered 1/6/10 graphics above that. It would leave the screen height free, and mean whole-screen graphics don't have text disappearing behind the tower/etc.
Or, better still, just go to the trad blue-screen studio for it so that it's clear without tiny dull screens or visible screen-edges on the "newswall".

Looking at how good the weather looked from N6 and it's newswall the other night, compared to how crap it had looked from N8 on the Five the hour before, made me think how much better N8 would look with a newswall like they have in N6.

That's quite lovely.

Good idea in principle - in practice? Don't think so - think SPACE!
Something like clever glass/full rear projection maybe?

They could change the top existing design to the bottom one...

And it'd look something like this...

But the interaction between the news monkey and the weather monkey is better if they're in the same studio, and the newswall could be used for more things than just weather.
