He's excellent
He's almost too good/solid/reliable to have his own slot. And he clearly loves it there, even when it means knocking off on screen at half past midnight and getting back on screen at 08.30am as he was doing for part of last week. The BBC always want him on, loads of shifts to cover and he is their best relief presenter, and he always wants to be on, the man has been known to go for over 14 days without a day off. Pleased for him to see him doing the National bulletin from N6 the other Sunday - shows how serously he takes the job, choosing 5 mins of National exposure vs. a double Sunday afternoon shift on News 24.

I'm quite confident he will be doing 2 shifts on Sunday too.

The hard fact is that Tim Wilcox is the new Peter Coe.

Who's Emily's replacement on News 24 while she's off on maternity leave? Will they just use whoever's available or will there be a semi-permanent replacement?

Well Emily's on Newsnight tonight. Perhaps she's just doing that for now rather than a 3 to 3.5 hour shift on News 24?

What do you mean Just doing that? It's a much longer shift. She comes in around 1pm for Newsnight.

So what's going on then? Is she on leave or not. Is she pregnant or not?

She's pregnant, but I doubt she's off for a while yet.

She's just on newsnight for a couple of weeks.

I think we read too much into her thing about adding to the population on Storyfix.

Emily has been on Newsnight since April. Tonight was her last appearance before she goes off on maternity leave

A good variation at the 10am TOTH today.
End of the countdown, cut straight to TIm in vision:
"Hello, good morning to you, you're watching BBC News 24 with me Tim Willcox, the main headlines at 10 o'clock"
Followed by the usual headline sequence. It was a good variation which worked well.

I'll begin my post by apologising for invading your thread. I was advised to make this request over here. Also i am not a weird obsessive stalker of the missing columnist i'm seeking.

I have been wandering where Deborah Ross the Independants woman from crouch end columnist has gone. I loved reading her ramblings, there is nothing quite like starting the day with a smile at breakfast.

Anyone know where she may have gone! Has she been headhunted by the opposition or something?
