Thank God someone understood what I meant!

I see what you mean Col Mustard, didn't really think it through properly - but it would look good wouldn't it!?

What's Viz?

gfx playout and generation system used by ITV and Sky, equivalent to BBC's TOG.
Also what runs parts of ITN virtual set. And your right, it would solve all the things people don't like about N6, (though people still have complaints about ITN's set, so you can't please everyone. Smile

Thanks. So I take it we may see a different (or at least tweeks) to N6's background when it's installed. How long before they get it?

Rumour has it early next year, though there's no guarantee it'll be used for any form of 'virtual' or 'tracked' set as yet. That may not change at all.
May be only for lower thirds and templated gfx.

Well it would seem strange to invest in a big new set and lots of projector screens if you're planning on switching to a 3D virtual set, so I don't think that's on the cards. I guess we may see more 3D 'virtual' elements in the studio for reporter-led sequences - rather like the way Fact File on News 24 sometimes works.

And presumably, this will be the time that the N24 astons change to match those of the 1, 6 and 10.

Not suggesting switching to a 3D virtual set (in fact the current set is already a virtual view of London). Instead - as discussed on the previous page - the new system could be used to create a new background for the projector screens of the new set. A true picture of the newsroom instead of all these virual newsrooms and cityscapes.

Is it me, or are they using the smaller pod for sport now and again, over the past few days. The one that they stopped using.

The sports bulliten just now was using the usual section on the right. I've no idea about the sports day bulliten.

Why's the Ten late tonight? News 24 running through the TOTH.

EDIT - no countdown, straight to Huw at 10.02

The left hand area of the studio was never stopped from being used - it's used every day of the week for sports headlines and for presenters to lead from when the desk is occupied etc. It was only stopped being used for the BOTH news summary. Sports headlines at quater past the hour normally come from this side of the studio.

Good old Tim Willcox did a double shift back-to-back last night. What a guy! When will he finally get the recognition he deserves with a prime-time regular slot - or better still - more exposure on the nationals?
