well this whole bbc news thing has confused me.
is the set we see now on news 24 their permenant one? and is teh nationals (1,6 and 10) from the same studio as news 24?

Yes, News 24 has moved there permanently. As they now simulcast the "nationals", it makes sense.

Seriously, surely it can't have taken from Friday night to Tuesday 8.30am to do "electrical testing" on N8. I wouldn't be surprised if it's more than that which has been done to N8 this weekend!

They could have been doing other things, but have you ever seen the amount of wires involved in a TV news set and gallery? There's a LOT of electrical equipment!

So when do Sky do their electrical testing? They never swap studios or go off air for whole bank holiday weekends.

I'm afraid I've never visited Sky News so I've no idea when they do their testing (as a guess I would say during recorded programmes), but it will have to be done at some point. You can't leave such a large amount of electrical equipment unchecked forever! Things as minor as changing light bulbs need to be done, so Sky must set aside some time to do it.

ISTR they used to use Millbank as a second home while they did that sort of thing

Who's Emily's replacement on News 24 while she's off on maternity leave? Will they just use whoever's available or will there be a semi-permanent replacement?

I see Maxine is Kate's slot for the time being while she is on Breakfast for Sian; evenings may settle down to be either Karin and Rachel, depending on what other shifts need cover - Karin has been doing more shifts recently away from the overnights, and has been on during the day recently too.

Karin's actually settled down a bit and is actually OK now.

Will miss Emily's dry wit though!

I think emily's replacement might be Joanna Gosling.

Maxine seems to have taken up Kates role, as has been said, but she still appears at the weekends.

And Karin seems to be on the Chris Eakin's shift more often than not, although she did the evening shifts last weekend. She really deserves a regular shift (just not overnight, or during the day when I can't see her) but i mention that too much.

Must be summer.

Notice they're doing the sport from the desk. Perhaps they thought it worked well when they were in N6 and continued it. And it is an improvement - better banter when the sport monkey's sat next to the newsreaders.
