It looks like some shoddy cso graphic, but as somebody said, it does the job.

It's OK, it does the job. The main issue for N24 as we've said before, is that the current set works excellently as it's a part of the newsroom, which is the main element and reasoning behind it all, and it works well. They couldn't get away with doing it from N6 or anywhere else permenantly.

But it doesn't look like it's part of the newsroom - or if it does, then the BBC newsroom is three desks manned by on average 2 people, as that's all you can see.

We all know that News 24 wasn't though of when the News Centre was built, and therefore there are no suitable places within the newsroom to site a studio. That's why we have the lash up that is N8. They've done as best as they could with it, but a corridor in the corner of the newsroom is rather embarrasing for what is supposed to be the flagship outlet of the world's biggest news broadcaster!

I think you will find that News 24 was thought of in the planning process of building the News Centre. It's partly why the News Centre was built in the first place!

Are you sure? If so, why didn't they build in a studio space next to - or within - the newsroom. People on here have always said that N8 wasn't designed for broadcasting. It doesn't have the right air conditioning, isn't high enough for proper lighting, and is just way too small!

I thought that the reason why the last revamp in 2004 took so long was because they were putting in new air-conditioning and lighting. Rolling Eyes

I imagine the original intention was that News 24 would be housed where it was to start with (what is now World's studio).

Only when they decided that World needed a more newsy background was N24 shifted to where it is now.

The background looks alright but could be better, namely the large red and white strips on it, though it does the job.
Interesting to see N24 Sunday in it yesterday and again it looked a little out of place because of the large space Peter had around his small table.

When is everything back to normal?

The News 24 titles have been strange this weekend and today. They sometimes start playing when the bed is still on. Looks like a VT. I'm presuming this is due to the temporary move.

News 24 Tonight is just plain BBC News today.

I don't know why, but I seem like it better as it is now. I also prefer it without the blasted RTS News Channel of the year text. Surely they could fit that in the spinning text?

Yes, News 24 has moved there permanently. As they now simulcast the "nationals", it makes sense.

Seriously, surely it can't have taken from Friday night to Tuesday 8.30am to do "electrical testing" on N8. I wouldn't be surprised if it's more than that which has been done to N8 this weekend!

Do you know how many complex bits of electronic equipment there are in a working studio and gallery?

And do you know how hard it is to get contractors in on a Bank Holiday Monday Razz

Wasn't there a post on here a couple of pages back saying there was rumours of a newswall being built in the same shape as the curent set, maybe they have replaced the desk part backing with a newswall, could it be done in 3
days?

How utterly ridiculous this discussion has become! Routine scheduled electronic testing is all that has been taking place over the weekend. Maybe there has been a minor tweak here or there, while the opportunity has been available, but the purpose of the weekend was to complete routine neccessary maintenance work.
