I have to admit that the set looks really good with that backdrop - corners are a bit iffy, but with some slight changes I would love to see Breakfast and the nationals use that backing.
Will be interesting to see if News 24 Sunday uses the sofa or the desk tomorrow!
I think it would have been better with her standing over to the right with the images that are usually used on the screen in N8 superimposed on the backdrop.
The quality of picture is far far better. A novel idea broadcasting from a studio rather than a corridor, and it shows. Rather than the dreary, badly lit picture you usually get from N8, this looks far better. It's also better with the video wall rather than the usual washed out mini-screens.
Yes I agree the background aint quite right, but it's temporary - with a bit more work they could get something far better.
I think they should move from N8 and build a set like N6's elsewhere for News 24.
I have to agree, it looks totally out of place like it.
The back drop looks like it was produced as a last minute thing when and thought they better have some form part of the real background but also try and make it work...IMHO it just doesn't.
Why could they not have just used the normal background?
It feels like I'm am just watching a normal news programme with an odd looking background
Totally agree, it just looks rubbish, especially the close up shot. They could have just used the nationals background for the weekend, instead of trying to disguise the set with a botched, cheap looking background capture of news 24.
It's OK, it does the job. The main issue for N24 as we've said before, is that the current set works excellently as it's a part of the newsroom, which is the main element and reasoning behind it all, and it works well. They couldn't get away with doing it from N6 or anywhere else permenantly.

But it doesn't
look
like it's part of the newsroom - or if it does, then the BBC newsroom is three desks manned by on average 2 people, as that's all you can see.
We all know that News 24 wasn't though of when the News Centre was built, and therefore there are no suitable places within the newsroom to site a studio. That's why we have the lash up that is N8. They've done as best as they could with it, but a corridor in the corner of the newsroom is rather embarrasing for what is supposed to be the flagship outlet of the world's biggest news broadcaster!
