Countdowns....

Moving away from the topic in hand. BBC World Service has an interesting approach to the top of the hour news which I think would work quite well on News 24.
Basically they have BBC correspondents all alround the world saying "this is the BBC in (insert location). I though this would work quite well on News24 as a replacement on the current countdown. Anyway just an idea, what you think?

Talking of countdowns - rumour has it there may be something new on the way soon for a certain channel Wink

Well if this new countdown is for News24, its a good idea. The countdown doesnt fit with the rest of the channels presentation, and they need to update it as the Sage in Gateshead has been fully glazed and open now for ages! I think they should have something similar to the World break filler, or perhaps revert back to the style of the 1999-2003 countdown, but have the red swirls flying around behind the numbers.

the sage is an eyesore though, i do hope it blows up soon as it's horrific and doesn't go with the rest of the quayside at all.

If it is N24 then please either go back to the 99-03 countdown with the Metropolitan scenes and more dramatic music or alternatively have the same countdown as BBC World perhaps with a red background instead of orange.
If it is BBC World then I hope they don't change the music - it's the best BBC News related music there is.

yeah i agree. go back to either 99-03 countdown or use the Feb 03-Dec 03 London scenes. I never did like the chunky bold numbers and preferred the italicised Gill Sans numbers before... i do think the music is better though following the revamp.

What was the presenter line up on N24 today? (March 26) Very Happy

i have a grevance with News 24 of late. i keep seeing to my dismay the two tier news header with a tiny headline. I thought the whole point of the revamp was to have big headline strap.

Presumably this must be linked in with the election in some way?

They were pretty uninspiring - compared to Sky - on the election presentation front last time. Hopefully this time they'll do something a bit snazzier.

The red straps will presumably have to go.
