That'll be interesting - what will be the background? A recording of the newsroom? Will be good to see the sport etc which usually comes from the RH screen. Will be interesting to see how they use the space and see if it'd be possible to use a similar set-up to N6/TC7 in N8 - something I'd like to see.

News 24 will come from N6 (National News studio) for the weekend of the BHol weekend and BBC1 will be simulcast with N24. N8 (News 24's regular home) is shut for mandatory electrical testing.
*** I repeat - no set work is happening that weekend - so calm the speculation!

Presumably that will mean there will be tight junctions between Breakfast and the start of News 24... so when will they have time to move the sofa out...perhaps during a back half hour prog? or will Brekkie just have to do without the sofa that day?
Presumably they'll have the N24 backdrop up so there's no problem.

Do they normally rehearse the BBC 1 bulletins(The reason why ITV NC always moved studios prior to an ITV 1 simulcast!)?
Is it normally a straight opt in to the N24 presenter?
Bearing in mind BBC 1 Saturday lunchtimes have been coming from N24, how have they rehearsed, if indeed they do at all?
They don't rehearse the whole bulletin prior to going live. They usually run through the headlines sequence to make sure that works and any other complex sequences they plan on doing during the programme. For a short summary, I doubt there would be anything that needs rehearsing at all.

N8 isn't really a proper studio, it's a corridor in the middle of the news centre. It's probably big enough to accomodate a smaller version of the N6 newswall but it would simply be too much work. Also bear in mind that the newsroom isn't very tall - the logistics are just too complicated.
The N6 newswall is actually rather small in real life, but still not small enough to fit into N8 (ah, the magic of wide-angle lenses!).

Does anyone know if there's room in N8 to actually install the three sided video-wall type set that is in N6 & TC7? If not then it's an academic question whether or now they'll go that way.

N8 will never be able to accomodate a set similar to N6/TC7 as the screens kick out too much heat and use too much power, and of course the matter of space - or lack of it! As N8 is in an office - the power needed is not there and the air con can't cope with all the extra technical equipment that would be needed. There is a long term plan to replace the screens - but its not gonna happen quickly (and certainly not this Bank Holiday weekend - ok?)

For goodness sake, why on earth is News 24 on BBC1?
This is a story purely about the government wanting to keep the element of fear in the mass population. I will bet that none of the arrested suspects today will be charged.
This is just a government ploy, and the BBC is playing up to it as it always does. There is no reason whatsoever for News 24 to be broadcasting on BBC1 right now seeing as over 20million homes already have digital and those that don't either have Ceefax or BBC Online at their disposal should they wish to be subjected to pro-government stance propaganda from the BBC.
Pathetic.
