They change the tower to 'BBC News' for Breakfast because it is visible to viewers on BBC1, who are, as far as they are concerned, watching Breakfast, and not BBC News 24. Every week it's the guessing game as to how long it takes them in the gallery to remember to change it back - today was a bit of an extreme, as it was well into the afternoon before they noticed it!
They always fade down the countdown for any sort of simulcast at the TOTH to give a clean, clear opt for all concerned.
I know it's silly summer season, but News24 really are suffering. Today, no Jane, Matthew, Jon or Louise!! Having said that, some of the stand-ins are great - Tim, Tony C, Julian to name three...some rising News 24 stars?
News 24 Sunday was back this morning for the first of several over the summer, with Peter Sissons. It is quite a nice concept, and makes good use of the studio space in N8. Of course, the programme means once again a slight re-jig of the presenter shifts through the summer.
