Jane Hill and Louise Minchin presenting together.
Is this the first same sex pairing since 1999?

Thats some pairing - perhaps News 24's finest two female anchors. They should have them together on a permanent basis doing the afternoon shifts.

I agree. Jane Hill is exceptional both by herself and with a pairing - whoever it is. She seemed especially cheerful towards the end of the 5 news hour too Smile

It is unusual but it has happened a few times since 1999.

Louise Minchin presented with Gwenan Edwards one Sunday evening last year and on 7 July there were two all-male pairings (Philip Hayton with Matthew Amroliwala and Huw Edwards with Jon Sopel)

IIRC Louise and Gwenan were an on-air pairing last year due to Chris Lowe having lost his voice the previous night.

The Middle East merry-go-round has kicked in, Jon Sopel and Chris Eakin are out there as well as Ben Brown now.

I think News 24 should break away from the male and female pairings: what is wrong with having a single sex pairing that it has not been done for so long. You could have -

8.30-1100 Kate and Simon
1100-1400 Ben and Emily
1400-1700 Jane and Louise
1900-2200 Jon and Matthew or Chris Eakin etc.

Has anybody got any recent caps of Louise Minchin, Kate Silverton and Jane Hill presenting on BBC News 24? Thank you.

It's no use Hyma, they can't hear you now. They've become pod people.

I was only expressing an opinion I have of Jane Hill that she is good at what she does. I'm hardly trolling the place.

Don’t think that it was entirely directed at you just the general way loads of threads have turned form a good discussion about a particular news channel into a commentary of who is presenting and when.

Well said, Dave.

Exactly what a large number of us are thinking.
