Sorry, it's the automatic language sensor on the forum. It was s h i t.

They did well to get Lyse on the road so quickly, given she was presenting Dateline London yesterday.

The problem at the 13.00 TOTH was that they were already running behind, lots of breaking news. They obviously already had the live with David Shukman lined up in the middle of the Amazon, so they couldn't skip that, hence the lack of time. After David handed back to Jane and Ben, they did a quick link and went straight into a 15 second countdown.

It turned out they need not have bothered - they broke away from the '1' for the Jean Charles de Menezes press conference around 10 minutes in.

They really should put Sissons onto a program with no breaking news, he always makes a right c**k-up of anything that's unscripted. Mabye a new, in-depth-headline analysis on BBC4? He tries hard, bless, but he just would be better on a 'sit around a coffee table on a sofa talking to people' program

Like News 24 Sunday - which is back on Sunday 30th July for a 5 week run on BBC 1 and News 24. Very Happy

Oops. Rob McElwee was doing the forecast at the projection screen in the N24 studio just now. Unfortunately at the end of the forecast, they didn't cut away from the studio shot, and just left him standing there looking at a promo for Charlie Brooker's Screen Wipe behind him on the plasma screen for about 25 seconds.

Interesting to see Clare Marshall, who has come back to London as a reporter, presenting on News 24 with Chris last night...

This summer has been much more interesting and a much better choice of presenters being used as cover, they've all been excellent choices and have done a good job.

Clare Marshall looks much better now she isn't fulfilling her usual front line role as hurricane correspondent!

I also think Chris Eakin is a fantastic asset to the channel, he's a very likeable and 'real' character to relate to, and he does a great job with his delivery - he is also an excellent choice to be sent out on location, as he has proven numerous times - he's entertaining and watchable when it matters, and yet still has the gravitas and tone to deliver the news in style.
