Usually, although they've also been known to use the BBC3 News studio, and Millbank.
The World set has also been used too
Has it? I don't think so. The set of "The World" is in the BBC World newsroom It can therefore only be used when no BBC World bulletins are produced and this is only between 0100 and 0500 GMT. The back half hour is too short to produce a whole edition of HardTalk in that set.

Is Hardtalk filmed in the same studio as the 1, 6 and 10 o'clock news is?

It was definatly used last Summer. The projection screens were set to orange, and a large 'HardTalk' logo was slapped onto front of the desk

Countdowns....
Moving away from the topic in hand. BBC World Service has an interesting approach to the top of the hour news which I think would work quite well on News 24.
Basically they have BBC correspondents all alround the world saying "this is the BBC in (insert location). I though this would work quite well on News24 as a replacement on the current countdown. Anyway just an idea, what you think?

Only a minor point - instead of getting correspondents to say "this is the BBC in....", local people are used to try and show the wide reaching nature of the world service. I think that the idea you suggest would work better on BBC World, with images of BBC reporters in differing locations from around the globe.

Yes, they used to do so some years ago. It would be nice to see that again (anything instead of the awful PuttingNewsFirst adverts), as long as they keep the countdown.

Didnt they used to have correspondents from across the globe doing a "Coming Up on BBC World, BBC News". I remember them from a few years ago, specifically one with Oerla Guerin in Jerusalem. Maybe an updated version of that would be good.

Yes, and before that, they had the BBC World News titles with a female voice saying "World News next on BBC World." It was only used from 2000-late 2001, IIRC.

Once again moving away from the topic in hand...what have been the most recent outside broadcasts and who tends to present them on News 24. Simon McCoy was meant to be specialising in this area when he joined, but AFAIK (and correct me if I'm wrong) he has been confined to the studio ever since. From events I can think of (Asian Tsunami, American Election), it is Jon Sopel who tends to be the main presenter in these major stories.
