It's a large enough issue which I think should be kept to a seperate thread rather than taking up 20 pages of the general thread.

Simon McCoy will be putting in for overtime today. He did the 8.30-11 stint this morning. Then at 11

Dumm-dumm!

cut to Jane Hill and Simon. Again. They quickly went to live pictures form the derailed train in Israel. They'd managed to find a someone traveling on the train and Matthew Amrol

Hang on!

No, that's right, Matthew Amroliwala, freshly substituted under cover of VT put some questions to her. Obviously caught short during the weather.

They did not have the weather that hour, and while Simon was presenting the previous interview Kate swapped places with Jane. This meant that Jane and Simon were present at the top of the hour, with them both doing the headlines, which was followed by Jane explaining what had happened while Simon and Mathew swapped. This is nothing out of the ordinary on BBC News 24 and has happened a few times, when there has been a changeover during a breaking news story.

On the subject of News 24 possibly becoming just BBC News, I like the idea better. As some people have already mentioned, it seems to flow better along with the folio of the BBC's other channels. Think about it, "BBC News" "Sky News" etc. I also like the sound of the maroon and grey being introduced to N24, the blacks and reds are getting a bit boring, need a refresh. I hope they keep the News 24 studio but just give it a few tweaks, same with the graphics and titles. BBC News online could do with a major revamp, its pretty much looked the same for sometime and for goodness sake change the presenter profile pictures, they are awful!!

I disagree. "News 24" is, effectively, a brand. Sky News is fine for them [Sky News] as they don't produce news on such a scale in other mediums.

Keep the name "News 24". It's what people know it by - bad piece of marketing if they change it!

OK I will disagree here, it works with Sky News as they only have one outlet, BBC News has numerous outlets, therefore the name BBC News 24 is the right name to use as it tells us that this is BBC News 24/7 isn't it.

Can't you see beyond the end of your nose?

There is now no difference to what is currently called News 24, and the national 1/6/10 bulletins. 'BBC NEWS' will be on air 24 hours a day....the only people who give a shhit about what studio they're in, or who'se presenting, are bods like you.

They'll say something like: "BBC News continues on Freeview channel 80, Sky channel..............."

They're not gonna cancel a rebrand just cause people on the TV Forum can't see how they'd make announcements.

First the boy on the Frosties ad doesn't actually float, now this. It's too much.

I have to disagree with you though. Everyone I know calls it "News 24", admittedly it's not a topic that comes up in conversation that often, but when it does, that's what it's referred to as.

If anything, us lot on here are more likely to say N24

And apparently the germ from the new Domestos advert ("Ain't that pretty...") is actually an animation.

Everything is wrong.

No sh*t sherlock, not much gets past you does it?

Patronising b*stard.

To be honest, I think the more interesting announcement from a TVF perspective was that the gfx are going to be updated presumably with the metallic grey look in the coming months.

It could go one of two ways- stylish and minimalistic, saving the red straps for impactful breaking news OR a bit dull and bland, with lots of grey on the screen most of each hour.
