Don't forget that even a lot of people in England are already suffering from World Cup fatigue.

The West Midlands seems to have a flag every three steps.

It'll drive some viewers away, no doubt.

My 2p anyway. Wink

To be honest I don't care if people kick up a fuss on Newswatch, I hope they stick with it and keep it. If someone is going to switch over/off from News 24 for about 20 seconds of "pro engerland" every hour then they need to get out more anyway.

Probably. They'll show the countdown up till England get knocked out (if they do - it all depends on Rooney but thats another discussion).

There are quite a few radicals up here like that - pathetic.

I don't suppose anyone managed to capture my remix being played out on BBC News 24 on Friday?

I would really appreciate it if anyone could send me a copy of it in either windows or real media format.

Many thanks!!

Speaking of these remixes, my remix seems to have been butchered (if it wasn't already bad enough) during the conversion to RM or something Shocked , far too loud in comparison with the original -- it's as if someone was recording sound via the Stereo Mix and had the slider bar too high! Tut tut.

Its nice, its like the Sun and the BBC have joined forces, but i guess it raises questions, would they have dont the same for Scotland, Wales ect

No chance! Seriously, can anyone else see the BBC doing the same for Scotland, Wales or NI if they got through?

Only Northern Ireland. The others' flags aren't in BBC News colours. Wink

I think it looks great and what with the new music getting released and that Have Your Say page, we recently saw how the BBC now recognise what an iconic presentation aid their countdown is, I'm glad to see it being used to connect with viewers and have a bit of fun. I don't think it affects the detail of the journalism, merely a British institution flying the flag for their country. Whether they would do it for us in Northern Ireland or Scotland or Wales - irrelevant really as people will always nit-pick and until such times as NI ever qualify, we'll not know what they would do in fact.

Well a precedent has been set, hasn't it?! Laughing

I think that some people round here need to take a firm grip on reality!

Of course the BBC should should show support to any of the national teams...... to say that they should treat all countries the same is madness when it comes to sporting events.

If the Scottish team were through, I wouldn't be offended by seeing a Saltire on the screen.

Oh my, they have just done some pictures of houses/things decorated for the tournament sent in by viewers.... I expect that people on here will be complaining about that too.

News 24 is a domestic service, the World Cup is a feel good story for a massive chunk of the population and I don't think a few shots of a massive current national news story on a national news tv station is really the most offensive thing that has ever been shown, which is how some people on this forum seem to be viewing it.

If anyone writes in to "Newswatch" to complain about this, I would suggest you pop out the the shops and buy some kind of life first!

I've just seen the countdown with its ammended graphics and I have to say it makes a nice change from the standard countdown. There aren't that many references to the World Cup and I don't find it that overwhelming TBH.
