Have you forgotten what BBC stands for? As England are the only British country in the World Cup, I think it's perfectly justifiable for the beeb to be showing patriotism to them as they are the team who have made it through. I suppose you could say it was bias in general terms, but seeing as this is the British Broadcasting Corporation who else are they going to support?!

I live in England and will support the team, but I don't think it's a very good idea. Surely, it's goes against the BBC's aim of impartiality. It's almost Fox News patriatism. I'm all for showing support, but it's something else for a news channel to show their support.

But the BBC is supposed to show impartiality at all times. It may be 'British' but it's not supposed to favour Britain - or any of it's constituent nations - over other countries.

I'm just impressed we've found a level of discussion more tedious than presenter schedules.
:-(
Its nice, its like the Sun and the BBC have joined forces, but i guess it raises questions, would they have dont the same for Scotland, Wales ect

Umm. I am unhappy with the comparisons which can be made with some of the tabloids but I suppose this was intended as a light piece of entertainment. Lets face it, we won't be there long.
What I find interesting is the emergence of interest (from BBC News and the audience) in presentation. I could kiss the creator of the countdown 'news beats' idea. It seems such a wonderful idea. Hopefully, we'll see more of this to come.
One of my worries though, News 24 doesn't exactly have the most perfect of records for tinkering. Worth bearing in mind.

No chance! Seriously, can anyone else see the BBC doing the same for Scotland, Wales or NI if they got through? I wonder if Newswatch will mention it?
I support England this year and I'm hoping they go on to win, but I'm against this countdown. I know a lot of people in the home nations are not supporting England this year and it just isn't fair to them. It'll drive some viewers away, no doubt.
But I do like it in the sense it's well made. Hopefully we'll see more special countdowns (well, ones that don't exclude people).
My 2p anyway.
