It seems that the edit used on the actual countdown is different from the three-minute version so that whereas it doesn't feature in the last minute of the three-minute version it does appear in the actual countdown edit. Phew!

(PS Thanks James for the chord progression info)

Blimey, there's some really sad people posting on that site Wink

I've always loved the BBC News music. When I was younger, I used to watch BBC News 24 every hour, just so I could catch the music

As if you'd get people like that on here!

Nice version although I've not seen it 'live' yet onscreen. For me, you still can't beat the original though.

Are we talking original as in Flags era? I must admit that still sounds really cool to this day.

Quite amusing! Obviously News 24's blunder is one that isn't going to be forgotten.

Recently BBC News 24 made it's countdown theme available to listen to on the internet. It proved hugely popular so we're going to have a little fun with it.

Do you think you can do better than the existing tune? We want to hear your remixes.

Please do not send us files larger than 15MB. We'll publish the best ones we receive.

Am I in the minority in thinking that Nick's factfiles are usually patronising and incredibly cheesy (not in a good way?) The use of graphics and the camera angle makes the set look even more cramped than usual.

Looks like that's a yes then Laughing

Is Carrie Gracie on Sunday afternoons a regular thing now? That's 2 weeks running now. I thought it was Maxine's shift (although Maxine's never in anyway).

Who did the Sunday morning shift yesterday?

I think Carrie does the Friday '5' and Saturday mornings.

Ben Brown did Sunday morning this week (usually it's Tim - he was on in the evening instead, probably on again tonight)

Wasn't the current BBC World countdown created from the 2005 News 24 one, now the 2006 News 24 tune is derived from the World countdown. Seems as though David Lowe is trying to go one up on himself each time.
Has anyone heard the two tunes posted on the BBC News website so far as remixes. They are alright but not as good as the maestro Lowe's in my opinion.
