As lovely as this new countdown is...SNIP

I totally agree. There is no consistency at all. I think back to the ivory era when absolutely everything, even regional news linked together perfectly. Now, we're all over the place.

BTW, add to your list the new (albeit much better) astons on the nationals.

Here you are then kids - just audio as the visuals are the same:

Are the visuals the same? The one on the bbc site looks like a re-edit, haven't they had to cut out a reporter who's gone elsewhere?

One does have to ask why just change the Countdown music and not refresh the lot. After all it all gets played just as much. Still the new audio is pretty catchy it has to be said!

So yes, it's nice that we've got a new countdown to all get excited about, but what would be really nice, what I'd really like to see is a bit of consistency across the brand, at least some evidence that there's thought going into these changes, because at the moment, every change I see looks like it's happened because someone in a BBC office had too much time on their hands and thought it would be 'cool' to update something.

I dunno if they're really to concerned about "the corporate news brand" at all anymore (if you can still call it that), it seems to be just a case of try and keep it going and held together as long as possible by tweaking it little by little here and there. And of course thats how we have arrived at the current situation, where the only real unifying feature anymore is 'its all red' and some of the music still sounds vaguely alike...

It will be interesting to see if when the big move occurs to BH (yeah, I know, still about five years away, at least) whether the corporate brand will be reset by attempting to do what they did back in '99-'00 and introduce a whole new (totally unified) look across all platforms or whether the beats and bops and red ribbons will be dragged kicking and screaming from TVC to BH.

Well, another successful rebranding of News 24, or the countdown at least.

I hate this gradual culture at the BBC. We've seen time after time this pathetic 'rolling out' over time. That said, an ok-ish remix of the previous one. Am I the only one though who think it's lost that certain, what's the word?, deepness?

Anyway, like Bail has said just shows how shi te the rest of it is, Vamps, Titles and Stings.

I think it's very grand of the BBC to unzip the anorak cupboard and let us in lol

David Lowe evolves.... but he doesn't revolve!

Brilliant new countdown. Can someone get the 3 minute countdown on downloadable MP3 or WMA so I can add it to my long list of other BBC News music? Very Happy

I think they've rejigged the order/timing of them slightly. Although it's the same footage.

More to the point however....

Does the music on the news get your pulse racing? If so you may be interested to know BBC News 24 has remixed its top of the hour music.

Also I do like the person who says it should have been our eurovision entry.

Very nice. It reminds of the BBC World countdown. Very funky.
