I just wish they'd stream News 24! Five Live are pathetic as usual with breaking news - they're carrying on with their phone in.

It's coming soon! Sounds complicated though - they're having to tag every piece of video so that the stream will automatically cut out when they play something that's under copyright.

No, I mean I wish they'd just stream it this morning temporarily to cover the reshuffle.

Yeah, there doesn't seem to be a good reason why they can't. It's one of the most interesting mornings for rolling news in a long time.

Chris Eakin now wandering the streets of Winchester, I do think he is really suited to this kind of reporting!

They always take that off for the online streaming - im sure its there if you put the telly on. Great coverage this morning though - Chris Eakin just stopping random people live in Winchester is very funny!

Agree that N24 is absolutely brilliant this morning, some fascinating coverage. Excellent analysis from James Landale and Jon Sopel, and very fast-moving coverage of all the developments at Westminster and across the UK. And Kate, Tim, Jane and Matthew have all been excellent in the presenters' chairs as well, keeping things moving along nicely. Chris Eakin's doing an excellent job in Winchester too.

Riveting coverage all round.

Yes, great. Best scoop of the morning is Nick Robinson's Clarke Interview (which you could read a bit of first online).

PS: I’ve often interviewed resigning ministers, but this was amongst the bizarrest. When I was called to be told the news, I was naked in bed in a Westminster hotel hoping to get at least an hour’s sleep, having stayed up all night covering the local elections. The interesting discovery I’ve made is that you can go from being in bed to attending a resignation statement in exactly seven minutes.

Too much info!! Pale

I agree it was an excellent morning of News for N24. It would be good to see Chris Eakin given a freer rein, so to speak, and be sent out on assignments like that more often over the summer months, quite enjoyable and funny seeing him in his own unique way, getting the moment across to the viewer. He's a likeable character of News 24. Obviously now Jon Sopel is restricted by The Politics Show, he can only go out to cover domestic, ususally policial stories, and of course when he was dispatched to Paris, another of his specialist areas, last month for those unforgettable riots that he and crew handled so well.

And of course, if Chris was 'allowed out' more often, we could have more of Peter Dobbie on the lates.. Smile

Ben Brown has been on tonight (not sure who with).

Tim Willcox was on earlier in Peter Sisson's shift...
