I can't understand why they'd go to all that trouble. The location graphic is no big deal, and the active graphic could have been covered by the normal info strap. Tsk!
I beleive, to be fair, that it was beleive that'd be the broadcast version for BBC One, who subsiquently found a clean version for use.
I also beleive the "aston" was placed over the sky graphic to avoid any confusion giving the message "Sky News Mulitscreen" and generally in terms of the peice been on Sky News.
Similar happened the other way around when the Hutton Report came out. IIRC, Richard Sambrook gave a press conference and only those there were, well, the BBC. News 24 had it live, Sky recorded it and had their aston on over it which, I think, still showed a bit of the News 24 one.
Quite amusing at the TOTH for Huw's 17.00 hour, after the titles when the aerial tracking shot kicked in, there was someone evidently still clearing the desk from Jon & Louise, walking off set away from the desk with papers etc
The 5 o'clock with Huw is now becoming essential viewing for me - I really like it.
Just had a hilarious interview about housework with Huw being called - repeatedly - a 'love god'! He was lapping it up. At one point he said, "Oh God! How am I going to survive this one!?"

I enjoyed that too - and then Dan Corbett exclusively revealed that he does his share of the housework at home as well!
Huw really is an excellent presenter, and the new programme is a good format for him.
I don't know if I'd call him excellent. He presents the hour as if he was presenting the ten o clock news, in that over formal. It's nice to see him make mistakes and things go wrong and breaking news, because that just never happens on the Ten o Clock News.

Why do I now have visions of Dan holding a feather duster whilst wearing marigolds and a frilly pinny?

You've obviously not seen the back half hour then.
A quite extraordinary day for the government, with the Health Secretary, Depty PM and Home Secretary all under fire. News 24 have, as usual, broadcast PMQs earlier, followed by Charles Clarke in the commons, and have just had an hour at the conference in Bournemouth watching Patrica Hewitt getting booed and jeered by the audience. They've sent Jon Sopel out to Westminster, and he's settled in at College Green, as usual. Louise on her own in the studio this afternoon.
