Wouldn’t like to be the person that thought that one up, they must have been tasked yesterday with making sure it all fits for today and they came up with that!

Would love to be a fly on the wall in that meeting, the bets bit was when they came back from the One o’clock news and Jane did all the talking...you just couldn’t see her, just the bloke who looked like he was staring at the signers breasts! Priceless!

Indeed, feedback meeting should be, shall we say, interesting...

One question though, Just what is the signer doing here? Looks awful dodgy...

Oh dear oh dear oh dear!!!!

I dont know if anyone sees the signed Hollyoaks omnibus on Sunday morning - but i think they should do something similar to what they do there. There she is quite small, in the bottom right hand corner. So maybe she could be in quite a small box, just above the ticker? Of course this could obscure some graphics.. but that could be sorted out im sure. It would make it much nicer to watch.

On the plus side i like the fact that the screen isn't all in one small box now.

That's what I was thinking. Surely she doesn't need to be so large!!! Perhaps it would help if they employed a more...slight... signer.

The BBC seems to have made good use of its resources for the scaffolding collapse in Milton Keynes. While Steve Dixon and Ginny Buckley have been trying to out-do each other with slightly callous speculation on Sky, News 24's been doing a good job of not falling into that trap.

Good eyewitnesses on the phone, pictures on screen much quicker and a correspondent at the scene all within an hour of the story breaking.

Anyway how on earth could this of got to screen? Surely someone must of realised it was going to be awful??! I mean it dosent take a genius to work that out does it?

BBC are wiping the floor with Sky this afternoon, by 2.41pm Sky has not pictures, BBC News 24 have about 6 photos and a endless string of eyewitnesses. Ginney Buckley was asking people to ring in a send photos while the BBC were scrolling through an informative selection. Sky announced that one person, unconfirmed, had died at the scene but BBC News 24 not doing that. Sky News are currently showing two very helpful maps, one that shows the SE and 'Milton Keynes', the other showing us the distance between MK and London. How helpful.

Sky now have pictures (2.55pm) but are showing someone operating Microsoft Outlook and open attachments.

Alternatively, why can't they add the signing to an interactive stream, so those who want the service can access it by pressing red, and the rest of us can watch unhindered.

There's probably the bandwidth to do this on satellite, but not always on other platforms - for example, DTT.

Closed (ie opt-in) signing is always something the broadcasters say they're working on - so that regular viewers don't get bothered by it, and deaf viewers don't have to remember to set the video all the time.

Given the signing only happens for a limited time each day, could they not use one of the news multiscreen feeds? Or even better, the full-screen interactive feeds when they're not being used for sport or whatever... which is most of the time.

Sheesh.

It looked like there was a third presenter for a minute. Very Happy

Ha ha... actually you might be on to something.. how about have the signing lady sitting in between Matthew and Jane??! I'm sure she could squeeze in and would obviously solve the problem of obscuring Jane/Matthew! Laughing
