I think the lead's only going to get bigger. Having Huw Edwards will prove to be a big boost to ratings in my opinion - he will attract a lot of people who are not usually attracted to the news channels.

Yeah very true, but I sincerly hope News 24 look at what a success Sky's personality lead bulletins have been. I mean it's good to have well known faces on the channel but this silly scheduling seen on Sky is a warning for all.

Personally, I can only see things getting better - just need them damn promos!

Who is pictured on the right here? Is it Sian Williams?

Also, have Mike Embley, David Eades or Stephen Cole or any other world presenters presented on News 24 at any point as having a regular shift, not a fill-in presenter?

IIRC David Eades did the 7pm-11pm with Carrie Gracie for a while a few years back.

Mike used to reguarly do News 24 as second in command to Chris Lowe - and usually when his old Newsroom South East partner Gwenan Edwards came on, but I can't actually recall him ever having a regular shift.

Same for Stephen Cole. Unless you count his weekly slot of Click Online and annual Oscars programme...

Have to say it would be nice to see Lindsey Brancher on News 24. She's been on before and it was a breath of fresh air!

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but the trailers for Newswatch seem to be sporting a new style endboard, something like this mock-up.

It looks quite good - hopefully it will be used for all trailers. Usually the respective programme-makers seem to be a law unto themselves with regards to trailer design, not usually to particularly good effect!

Looks good. I hope they sort out those dire Talking Movies trailers.

Keep an eye out is all I can say ...

Most Probably something your used to seeing, but I was just watching N24 on BBC TWO then (dont have sky/freeview etc) and there was a coming up strap. Black see through with coming up written on, then orange ribbons flying around in the corner.

Also theres been more promos like that one mocked up there.Just seen one of Jon Sopel stood up,with people with paper behind. He then says "Headlines every 15 minutes on BBC News 24...a camera goes OVER Jons head, and it looks like he is stood on a clock.

Just saw a new trailer during the 0130 break. Only got the last couple of seconds, but as it came to an end, the camera panned over Jon Sopel, who I *think* was standing on a giant virtual clock on a white background, and the view then pulled right out to reveal a full clock face, and an endboard in the new style showing

Headlines
----------------------------------------------
Every fifteen minutes

Looked pretty slick.

I've now seen two variations on the theme. The most recent, at the 0230 break, started with Huw Edwards at a laptop, panning across to Kate Silverton talking on the phone, then over to Jon Sopel writing something down on some papers, and finally to Emily Maitlis who says "headlines every 15 minutes on News 24", before the "camera" pulls up and away from Emily, revealing the full clockface with round 'pulses' (not dissimilar to the old transmission pulses of the 1999-2003 look of BBC News) on the hour, quarter-past and quarter-to, and half past, with the same new-style endboard.

Some snappy new 'beep-beep' BBC News music used as well.

Oh fine, put my fabulous descriptions to shame, why don't you!

There was also a nifty "sports headlines every half hour on BBC News 24" trailer in the same style, with the pulses on 15 and 45 past the hour, just before The World Today.

Thanks for the caps, Lee.

Thanks for the caps Lee, I wish BBC World would do some promos like that!

The faded clock on the floor during most of the clips reminds me of the early 1990s BBC One O'Clock News titles...
