so what are they doing to the set then if they are putting a blue screen up is it getting a new look or is it getting repaired or something and what is actually happening ont he 10th is it getting a new set new graphics or is there going to be nothing new on april 10th?

News 24 gets it's new presenter line up on April the 10th.
The national studio/set changes don't happen on the 10th and who said they were getting a blue screen.

Ah but technically for a short period of time there will be a new studio before the old one is ready with a new set

I'm guessing that the blue screen is going up somewhere for the weekend whilst changes are made.

It wouldn't suprise me if they take out the monitor on the left as I'm guessing it is rear projection, and removing it would give a reasonable space for a sofa arrangement. It seems a practical way to gain more studio space, whilst not affecting news bullitens as they tend to use the right monitor during bullitens, though that would affect weather forcasts. I could of course be completely wrong (and I probably am).

NickyS speaks the truth. Charlie is merely guessing.

who's to say they won't be moving the nationals set into another studio while the new one's being built?

I suppose they could, in a temporary studio, do without the side screens for a while, and just have the backdrop as a static printed affair rather than the back projections as present.

When do they move out of N6 for the building work to start?

I don't know if it has been back before today, but the Fact file seems to be back on News 24. I must say i was suprised when they dropped the title from Nick Higham's presentations, as these fact files offered in depth analysis of some of the days top stories.

Anyone with half a brain could work out that TC11 will be dragged back into use for a last hurrah before being decommissioned once and for all.

Surely since all weekday national news bulletins are going to be simulcast on News 24 from April 10th, the logical move would be to.....do them from the News 24 studio!

Surely I'm not the only one seeing this as a sensible solution whilst the new set is built?

Isn't the new Straight Talk format identical to Hardtalk? A longform one-on-one interview with a politician?

No, no, no.

Straight Talk's format is much better- it's a round table discussion with 3 political newspaper journalists about the political stories of the week, spliced with political reports from the week.

Psythor's talking about the *new* Straight Talk format - Andrew Neil, one-to-one with a political figure.

MediaGuardian article.

To guess at the answer to my own question, could the format clash not be a problem because Hardtalk goes out on BBC World and so will be more... worldwide, whilst straighttalk will be more specifically British issues?

Oops- sorry Psythor, an innocent misreading of your post on my part.

Breakfast News
Interesting to note that the PMs interview on Breakfast this morning, when shown a part of a report on C4 News, was not creditied to BBC Breakfast, but to BBC News 24 - small point, but one that I thought was interesting.
