There seem to be odd things going on with the lettering all round. I don't understand why the N of NEWS 24 on the Tower appears thinner than the rest of the letters. I'd say they should sort it out, but judging by previous efforts, they'd end up making it look even worse.

There are some rather unusual issues with the lettering on the large headline text on the main supers. I've noticed it since they changed to the lighter font weight, but it was very obvious just now, which is why I thought I'd mention it.
There are very subtle variations in the height and positioning of some of the letters. The 'B' is slightly shorter than the 'M' when they should be the same height. The bottom of the 'L' often appears slightly lower than adjacent letters, and for some reason, if an 'L' and an 'A' appear next to each other, the bottom of the 'L' merges into the base of the 'A'.
The result is that often, the letters look ever so slightly messy, a bit like magnetic letters hastily lined up on a fridge door. I realise of course that the majority of viewers wouldn't give a toss - but it's just an observation.

Jon and Carole Walker currently have a large book valued at £3 million, written by Shakespeare on the desk, being discussed by two guests, complete with a security guard standing behind the desk, to 'guard the book'
Another minor issue with TOG over the last couple of days - I've seen everything freeze over twice this week, before being dissolved off screen. A name caption also got stuck and everything had to be removed and amimated back up to get rid of it. During WBR 2 nights ago at 00:30, TOG crashed, and a generic BBC News tower, with static globe, and www.bbc.co.uk/news in the place of the time, a la the World Tower, was used instead.

Anna did the 10.58 summary, so she must have been taken ill.
Matthew did the 12.13 (as he usually does), although Maxine had done several Tuesday/Thursday summaries.
I agree, strange that Matthew didn't do the One since he is more regular on BBC ONE at weekends, or even Maxine replacing Kate early on News 24 to do the One since she is a more familiar face from Breakfast etc, or George or Natasha since they are on the Six.
Was nice to see Maxine though, a swansong indeed before moving to News 24 weekends! Although if her only regular shift is Sunday 13.00-17.00, perhaps she will be free to cover Saturdays on BBC ONE (or even do the One or Breakfast again).
Also, surprisingly in the East Midlands region, there was a recorded announcement before the One, surprising since she hasn't done the One, Six or Ten before, only occasional weekends when there are no regional headline opts.

Well i would of thought Natasha would of done it. Remember the last time Anna was ill midway through a bulletin and Sophie came in without any make-up? Well perhaps this was the problem.. Natasha refused to come on without any.
Then if George or Natasha couldn't do it, i would of thought it would of been Simon, Kate or Matthew all ahead of Maxine - as all three of those are more familiar to BBC1. Jon Sopel even could of done it - and that wouldn't disrupt the News 24 schedule. So basically Maxine is the last person i would of expected!

Well Maxine was there at the beginning of the programme, at least it wasn't so unexpected that she had to run in halfway through. It's already been mentioned that Carrie's doing the first Friday edition of the Five O'Clock Hour, I think that would be a good job for Maxine, since she's only going to be presenting on Sundays and is a high profile face on News 24.

Aah...but Carrie Grace is increasingly becoming a major face on News 24. Admittedly, she's been there for years but now she's doing Weekend 24, News 24 Mornings, HardTalk etc&
Something in my water tells me that Carrie Gracie is going to become more and more prominent.
But look - Jane Hill was once the golden girl of News 24. Now, it's increasingly looking that it is Kate Silverton.
How times change. God I remember when Brenda Patterson used to read the news on the channel. God, she was boring!

How dare you speak of a "Joanna Gosling school of crap newsreaders"! Certainly Carrie Gracie is indeed awful, with her inarticulation and lazy Estuary English accent (so is Liz Pike), but Joanna Gosling is supreme. She's attractive, speaks properly and handles breaking news very well. I really can't understand why she can't take over on the One when Anna Ford retires.
