I had a feeling Fiona might not present on News 24, due to this not be stipulated in her contract. Maybe when her contract comes up for renewal it may be contained.

Some funny moments just before the TOTH with Tim Willcox in a sports car talking about "rusty drivers". Lots of laughter when Louise pointed out that he didnt have his seat belt on while reversing it!

OK, I take it all back about Tim! Brilliant bit then about 'rusty' drivers where he disappeared off to the TVC car park to drive a car he was unfamiliar with and drove off into the distance while Louise threw to the weather!

News 24 in the outside, real world beat's Sky's virtual this and that and their warehouse of a newsroom anyday! Presenters leaving their desk to go around TVC is the way forward...

And he's just made it back in time to carry on with the news - plastic hair the same as usual!

But that is perfectly legal. There is no problem about not wearing your seatbelt, as long as you are reversing.

Absolutly top class from Tim this afternoon - fantastic viewing; it's good that I'm not the only one who's constantly harping on about how good he is! Great that they chose him to go down and do the feature, I wished I'd recorded it!

I loved the way he handled it, very relaxed, had a laugh about it and got the job done well. Very funny to hear his excuses for not having his seatbelt on being faded down, much to Louise's hilarity. Hair as perfect as usual, even outside in the wind.

Another chance to promote the excellence of the man!

Interesting at the 18.00 TOTH, whilst Tim was making his way back up from TVC car park, Louise did all the headlines from the right hand projection screen, and after the titles the aerial camera tracked over the cameras and studio furniture on a tighter shot of just the right hand screen area on its own. This shot is very rarely used, occasionally just for the odd second at the top of Sportsday. Looked nice though, and made good use of the wide angled lens on the tracking camera.

I do enjoy it when the presenters are dispatched elsewhere, usually the newsroom behind the desk. I've seen Louise, Jon, and Liz in there, and now Tim outside. Hopefully this practice will become more common in the future.

Is Tim a potential candidate for Breakfast?

Kate Silverton has stayed on with Matthew after 1pm! Maxine is doing the one oclock news on BBC1. Something up with Anna?

Funnily I was thinking the same thing re: Tim / Breakfast last night and casting my mind back to the Breakfast thread. He has done the odd weekend Breakfast before now, in the N24 studio obviously. It would be nice to see him increase his brief at the BBC.

Interesting that Maxine did the '1' today as well as the rest of her N24 shift.

Presumably Anna must have come down ill. What was Maxine like on the One o'clock? Was this her first time on this bulletin?

Yes, Maxine has never done the one before.

There are some rather unusual issues with the lettering on the large headline text on the main supers. I've noticed it since they changed to the lighter font weight, but it was very obvious just now, which is why I thought I'd mention it.

There are very subtle variations in the height and positioning of some of the letters. The 'B' is slightly shorter than the 'M' when they should be the same height. The bottom of the 'L' often appears slightly lower than adjacent letters, and for some reason, if an 'L' and an 'A' appear next to each other, the bottom of the 'L' merges into the base of the 'A'.

The result is that often, the letters look ever so slightly messy, a bit like magnetic letters hastily lined up on a fridge door. I realise of course that the majority of viewers wouldn't give a toss - but it's just an observation.
