Did they have Weekend 24 as usual this morning on News 24? It wasn't on BBC1 because of the Commonwealth Games. If they did who presented it - Valerie Sanderson was in for Carrie yesterday morning and it would of been nice to see her back with Bill. They used to present the 1-4 slot for years together.
PS Anyone know who did the Ten News Hour last night?

Weekend 24 was on as usual - the only difference between a normal N24 bulletin and Weekend 24 was the absence of the ticker - and was presented by Bill Turnbull and Carrie Gracie

Thanks. Glad it was on - i was thinking they might drop it and not have Bill as it wasn't going out on BBC1.

They've dropped "INTERACTIVE" from the ticker with the excessive details on numbers to text, ring etc., replacing with a simple "UPDATE" and bbc.co.uk/news on the ticker.
Far better, but I sadly think it's just for the weekend, and that the "send us your 3G images" etc. will be back in full force taking up masses of the ticker from Monday.

I've never actually seen Valerie Sanderson on the N24 presenting chair. How would you rate her newsreading abilities and skill? The closure of the News 24 homepage I'd imagine will be adding the new presenters to the presenter page as well as (hopefully) updating those truly awful pics of the current presenters...we'll wait and see!

I have a feeling it's not coming back
There seems to be a lot of nodding and winking in this direction, which suggests to me that there's going to be less of an emphasis on "24" following the channel mini-relaunch on April 10th.
As a poster above said, I think they would be stupid to change the name of the channel to BBC News (Channel) as News 24 has successfully developed an identity for itself. But it makes perfect sense that the website behind the BBC's 24 hour news operation is bbc.co.uk/news, and not a pretty poor page with some presenter profiles and history of the channel.
Just a secondary point, on what I would like to see done with the tower....I think it should be smaller vertically (so it becomes a rectangle), showing:
BBC NEWS
___ 24
The "24" bit should spin every few seconds or so to show the time. Thus:
BBC NEWS
___ 22:28
Perhaps even add in a bbc.co.uk/news spinner in the style of BBC World. I've not got the skill to mock this idea, but I hope it makes sense.
Hence the channel identity remains (BBC News 24) but there is more emphasis on the BBC News part (as this is always on screen). The thinner smaller tower would allow a smaller headline strap, and the moving of the location to a neater place just above the tower (as others have mocked). Overall less space taken in the lower third of the screen - I think that's a forward looking move.

Well I really don't know why they call it News 24, seeing as it's more News 19, and even smaller after 10 April. But maybe a little website like bbc.co.uk/news/onscreen would be appropriate.
Re the tower, do you mean having something on screen that looks a bit like Breakfast's stack during the news summaries?
