I've noticed a couple of times in the past week, News 24 has used a 'NEWS UPDATE' strap with the bright red background for new developments on certain stories, rather than the usual 'BREAKING NEWS' . Is this a new thing, or just something they've not used much in the past? Seems like a good idea IMHO, and what a lot of people on here have been calling for for a while.

So why have they been using it so infrequently?

They haven't - it happens quite a lot.

Its much better than having a BREAKING NEWS strap for 3 hours continuously... Rolling Eyes

Most odd glitch on BBC LONDON Breakfast. Halfway through the travel update, the travel information slide calmly and slowly scrolled up and off the screen, leaving nothing but a mass of black. The next slide popped onto screen a couple of seconds later.

Cracking. Andy Tighe's mobile just went off - with the utterly embarrassing original Nokia ringtone - halfway through a live two-way from Westminster. He just reached into his pocket and turned it off, and made no reference to it at all. Every inch the consummate professional...except the bit where he forgot to actually turn the phone off.

Shouldn't they all have BBC News theme ringtones? Make it a bit more corporate!

That would be awful. AWFUL .

I see Sally Bundock is doing the business inserts from the London Stock Exchange today. I don't think I've ever seen her there.

He's done weekend earlies a few times before. I remember him doing it during the original corporate look, before the set was tweaked in 2002.
