So here's the journey we've been on. First one is the original, then the tweek when the new font & white ticker was brought in, then Tuesday's tweek, lastly what it is now.

Looks like 4 and 2 are the same, and yet people are saying how much better it is!

Another change that ahs happened: the phone when talking to someone via mobile has changed.

This is just an observation from half-watching from across the room, but the N doesn't look quite as heavy as the S on the tower. Is it just my eyes and/or tv?

Wouldn't the simplicity and sturdiness of "BBC News", or even "BBC" have been more appropriate?

You might well be on to something there. Let's see.....

I agree, but I think it's just the way the font has been drawn as opposed to it being "wrong" in some way. It is at least better than it was yesterday. Rolling Eyes

I agree - it's about time it changed to just "BBC News". People know that the channel they're watching is BBC News 24 by now, the "24" part isn't necessary on the DOG any more.

Hmmm! Is there something in this? Are they changing the channel's name?

I think the logo has been moved down ever so slightly between 2 and 4. The amount of globe visible beneath it appears less. Also has the NEWS 24 text been made slighly bigger, so the BBC logo doesn't dominate quite so much? Admittedly they're only very slight changes, but they make a lot of difference and seem to sort out the awful vertical centering issue of last week.

Also I notice today that the text on the ticker 'headline' block has been reduced slighly since yesterday, although it's not back as small as it was last week. The word INTERACTIVE wasn't quite as tight against the edges when i saw it earlier.

And... w12... ooh, you've got us intrigued now! Perhaps the Head of Tinkering at News 24 will get yet more work soon.

But if they're dropping the '24', why all this tinkering with the Tower over the last few days?

EDIT: Unless, of course, when they changed the ticker, they had introduced new software ready for the name change, and so the News 24 Tower needed to be recreated temporarily until the change, and they just took a few goes getting it right?

EDIT 2: Thinking about this now! If they drop the 24 - what do the put in the titles? Answer: changes ever hour, 9am - a big 9, 10am - a big 10, 11am - a big 11 etc, and thus fits perfectly with the 1/6/10 titles. This would also fit in with there being a 5 O'clock News - with a big 5!

That looks much better - but not much different to what it was before the start of all this silly tinkering. Kate looks lovely there -best looking newsreader in the UK - but in the world it's got to be Melissa Theuriau. Google her and you'll see what i mean!

I just googled her and I completely understand where you are coming from - she's gorgeous!
