Sian is a great ambassador for women on the TV. I hope that she whips Natasha in any race for the 6 co-anchor. Perhaps we'll get steak if she presents a 'Nationwide' style show - and not mince if Miss Kaplinsky gets that gig!

Didn't quite get the bizarre analogy there but I do agree, Sian is undervalued seemingly.

The comparison was between Sian being steak...as in quality - and Natasha being mince...as in crap.

Simple, when you think about it Jamie!

I have to agree with the comments, Tash is crap. full stop and gowd help us if she's off for Nationwide...

Now hang on.

We're all taking this Tash-bashing a bit too far. Christ, give it a rest, the girl can read the autocue and she can present LE programmes as well. Granted she comes across quite dim sometimes and she may be a glamour-puss but I don't see any of you making that comparison with Fiona Bruce? Or Mary Kennedy of RTE?

Herself no stranger to LE - anyone remember Eurovision 95?

To my mind, it's just another string to their bows. Neednt be a bad thing that they can be a little more human Very Happy

Here are some of my own improvments to the new look.

Arrow I would change the font to helvetica, don't ask why, it looks nicer thatn Swis at time.
Arrow I've fixed up the BBC News 24 logo in the dog, still keeping the BBC slightly bigger but making it look much tider.
Arrow And I've also made the font that is now thin a little thicker, which to me slighlty improves it. Smile

What is it about the BBC that when they tinker with graphics, they invariably make them look worse rather than better. This sort of visual balls-up happens time and time again, and I seriously have to question who is commissioning these changes.

The whole on-screen appearance of the TOG system looks bad to me, and each tweak they've done to it has made it look worse in my opinion. This, quite possibly, is the worst effort yet - though I have every confidence that soon enough we'll see something even worse.

For the life of me, I cannot understand why this has made it to air. Somebody's obviously looked at the graphics for N24 (and World, which I expect will adopt the changes in their own time) and decided that they're not happy with them. But rather than go back to the drawing board and make wholesale reconfigurations, they've decided just to fluff about with a few things in some half-arsed effort to freshen things up. The end result - rubbish like this.

What's so sad is that BBC News used to have an absolutely fantastic, world-class look just a few years ago... Now - this. Sad

It's not just that she does LE programmes, I can't stand her in the newsroom, she comes accross as cold and supercilious and spends her time either pouting or grinning into the camera (as appropriate to the story, although not always).

Is this Ben Brown's first shift since the announcment? If so, it's definately needed as he is taking a little bit of time to get settled in. I assume thats why Kate is with him now.

So has Ben Brown left reporting duties then?

I have no idea how this has made it either, I don't understand why they had to adopt the changes to the TOG, but channel management must have had their reasons, personally they need to bring back the bold font, in the places where they have made it unbold and it would look all right then, question is how long before BBC World takes on the new colour scheme!
