Conversely, I think the logo actually looks a bit too low here:

The sweet spot - in my opinion at least, should position the complete stacked logo in the vertical centre of the top two thirds of the Tower.

Essentially, if you take the bottom third as "belonging to" the clock, and the upper two thirds as being the domain of the N24 logo, I'd say that the logo should be vertically and horizontally centred within that top two thirds space.

I think where they went wrong with the amended Tower is that they simply increased the size of the BBC logo, but didn't adjust the positioning of the whole stacked logo to compensate. Before today's changes, the stacked logo was indeed dead centre of that top two thirds, which is why it looked "right", and why today's change to the Tower looks a bit awkward.

As I believe I mentioned at the time you first showed that mock though, I do personally like the design, although if it were to animate as well, the high contrast between the black and red/orange shades could be rather distracting. At least the current animated globe in the Tower box is subtle enough to be unnoticeable most of the time. But anyway, I'm beginning to digress from the thread topic, so I'll shut up.

Maybe they have a large gap between the 'NEWS 24' and the clock to show the spinning globe a bit more. It was barely visible before the tweaks today.

I'm not sure about the new font. Personally, it looks too thin for the main banner.

As far as the ticker is concerned, I like the new font there but the white background is too plain.

Everything could be better, but at least there is less collision of colours now with the ticker being black and white.

And, as has been said earlier, the biggest balls up in the entire graphics system - the LIVE/location bug - remains as it was!

With the new bigger BBC logo though, it'd be about right.

The thinner font is growing on me but I do think Breaking News should still be on bold. It just looks a little pathetic...

Am I right in thinking that the LIVE/location bug isn't controlled by TOG... which go towards explaining why that's not been tinkered with?

Where's their priorities though? The LIVE bug looks crap - they should fix that rather than 'tinkering' with TOG!

Well I agree, but this is News 24 we're talking about. Heaven forbid they'd ever tinker with things that require tinkering.

There may be some more tinkering to come. Question now is will BBC World get the new look Laughing

As soon as I saw the graphics I exclaimed out loud: 'What have they done?'. For me the word 'mock' comes to mind and it definitely does not look like a professional channel.

I can cope with the thinner font but it does not carry the same impact as the larger font had when it was on screen, especially with the Breaking News.

The ticker, as Asa said, is too bright and all though clearer I find that my eyes are instantly drawn to it. Perhaps if the ticker was a light grey (like my quick five minute example) then it would still be easy to read but less eye catching and also more suited for the current palette of colours

I prefer the sport heading as it blends in with the rest of the graphics better than the bright yellow BBC Sport one did and I also prefer the black on white mastheads for all of the ticker titles.

The tower looks a shambles IMO with the positioning of the BBC NEWS 24 well off centre and thus makes the tower look stupid, just as it did on the promotion for the Oscars News Special. It needs to be centralised as it was before. I think it will be interesting to see the BBC NEWS tower tomorrow on Breakfast.
