If you mean above the main headline supers, then that's been used quite a few times before, and is often used to label the location or date of footage being shown on the right while a live or recorded interviewee is shown in a cropped window on the left. One development is that it doesn't seem to line up very successfully with the top of the supers any more; there's a bit of a blurry smudgy gap between the bottom of the slug and the top of the TOG graphics.

They're using a 'Recorded Pictures' slug on the right above the TOG now - never used to before.

While I note your observation that it don't line up properly, I disagree that it's been used lots before. Yes, the slug in the position I descrive has been used, but not 'Recorded Pictures' for pictures which were filmed only hours earlier.

Hmm, well I've definitely seen it used before. I don't know if it's been used specifically "for pictures which were filmed only hours earlier", but I've seen it showing "LIBRARY PICTURES", for example, as well as descriptions like "DECEMBER 2005" or "LIVE, RIVER THAMES". The only significant changes that I can personally note are the gap and the use of mixed case, where previously it was all upper case.

It's used in situations where there could be some confusion for viewers (who may not all be as aware of these things as regulars in this forum) as to whether the pictures on screen are live or recorded.
Goodness, how dull this thread has become. It's really in need of some major developments to get things firing again.
Lucky for this thread then that we'll hear on Wednesday about the plans for......

It has to be said that "Recorded Pictures" is a pretty useless caption to use. Particularly since it was sitting directly above a "LATEST PICTURES" strap.
