Its probably just having the time to set the camera shot up. I guess while someone is playing around with the aerial camera, they are not doing something they normally do, if you get what i mean? i.e. in a long studio interview there are no clips etc to queue up or graphics to get on screen.

well BBC News 24 is part of the British TV Licence so it would never become available to germany! It's not even ment to be broadcast in ireland!

Well, it is very interesting what I hear in this thread. I hope N24 will come to Germany also. We have News24 at night via BBC World. And I like it much better than BBC World becaus you get news 24 hours a day. Perhaps BBC will decide to put N24 on Astra 19.2 in the future.

Before they were unencrypted, BBC One and BBC Two were subscription channels in Ireland. There's no reason why News 24 shouldn't be offered as a British news channel (replacing promos with adverts perhaps), to generate extra revenue for the Licence fee.

Philip Hayton is one of those few presenters who seems better on his own than paired. Most (Dobbie, WIllcox etc.) get a chance to shine when paired, but Hayton seems to have enough about him to go solo and not really interact much in a pair.
Philip, I always think, has the 'it' factor - something that makes a news presenter instantly watchable. It's a quality also possessed by Jane Hill, Bill and Sian, Peter Sissons.... anyone get what I mean? As already mentoned, many of the N24 lot (Anna Jones, Gosling, Gracie etc.) are insufferably dull.

Alistair? With this being the N24 thread and all I assume you refer to Mr Yates - don't seem him that often to comment I'm afraid. And, off topic since I'm sure you didn't, but if you meant Mr Stewart I'd love the Beeb to poach him: have him share the Ten with Huw and do a Frosty type programme on Sunday mornings. Will never happen though, but apparently it's good to share dellusion ramblings.

At last someone who agrees. Some presenters are immediately watchable, others insufferably dull... excellent turn of phrase!
Hayton has been used to being a solo presenter, like he was on the 1 during the late 80s early 90s. I totally rate Phil, even tho he has accused of being "starchy". He carries authority, whereas some of the "insufferably dull" ones do not have that air of authority about them

I'm wondering whether they've changed the line-up so that there is a 'face' on from 9am-11pm?
Before from 1pm-4pm they had Chris & Maxine, and neither of these are recognisable faces to the viewers of BBC One news. Now they have Phil from 9-1, Matthew from 1-4, Jon from 4-7 and Jane from 7-11.

by the way you are currently going, there will be no-one left in the BBC to present the news only a desk, a few screens and a sofa.
and before you post things like that, and you may have heard this a billion times, you NEED your proof, where did this come from??
