They just had the big silver '24' with the ribbons flying round it on the screens at the TOTH when Tim was reading the first story. It really looks good in my opinion and I think they should keep it running all the time, on all the screens, instead of putting 'appropriate' stills on them. The animation gives the studio more life, and it emphasises the channel branding.

Humour me for a moment on this please...!

The other night on News 24, Nick Higham was doing a 'mini-fact-file' from the desk, talking to the presenters. Graphics came up on screen while he was talking - full screen with just his voice in the background. The graphics were really good in that they fitted in very well with the TOG graphics. For those of you who regularly watch News 24 I know this will be a surprise for you!

The graphics all seemed to fit in with this grid, originating with the Tower...

Usually, interesting things usually only happen in the area which is arrowed, but this time other things moved about.

The report was on Nepal, and a graphic was used in the area above the Tower...

Other pictures and graphics slide in to the central area, framed nicely by the other graphics...

It was all going so well, and then a graphic came up which didn't fit and which was partially hidden by the Tower. What do you expect on News 24!!!

But apart from this, it all worked well, and it was really good to see graphics which all fitted in with the TOG. Why can't they do this all the time.

For example, different graphics above the Tower, relevant to the story, could be used for slides, (see the example below for today's big story, the Billy Jo Jenkins trial), with things animating like the TOG graphics usually do. It would look far more professional.

I agree, it looked very tidy; they used it at the TOTH at both 11 and 12.

Nice to see Dan Walker (of Football Focus, Final Score fame and also previosuly sports presenter on North West Tonight) making his presenting debut in the studio this morning.

Subject of much hilarity with Carrie and Julian is the fact that he's too tall for the set, and has to sit next to the rear projection screen!

The News 24 studio (N8 ) produces a full channel 24 hours a day. The World studio (N9) just produces bulletins for World - everything else is played out and co-ordinated from elsewhere.
It might be worth mentioning that N9 is also used for one or two prerecorded items when it's not on air on World - such as Heathrow Express bulletins, twice a day, an edition of Asia Today in the evening, and occasional 'coming up' bits for the dynamic junction. Oh, and occasionally an interview for The World will be recorded earlier in the afternoon.

Spencer For Hire posted:
World seem to change the 'LIVE' text now and again. I've seen 'EARLIER' and 'LATEST' on occasions. Perhaps as World also take HardTalk, this was their doing.
World do show HARDtalk, and sometimes even end up playing the same episode at the same time as N24, but it's played out separately from the World playout suite, in the Broadcast Centre.

Should we celebrate this thread's 200th page or something?

Interestingly, Carrie Gracie has left at 12 and been replaced an hour early by Liz Pike. Probably related to the extra day she worked yesterday.

200th page of the thread, cause for celebration!
